Formatting got a bit messed up, but oh well.

This is huge, and there are a lot of other titles not on the launch list that I know are in development. Has there ever been a larger console launch? Anyone know?

27 launch titles is an awful lot. Especially when I can name at least 6 that I'll definitely be buying (up from 2 from the Cube launch and none from any other launch, including DS).

Gah. nintendo might as well have my PIN number.

Better still that number will likely be increased for the UK, what with the delay in system release. which might be nice.

360 had 18 launch games with 11 being sports? ouch. And MS wonder why Japan continues to not care about them.

Nice to have a good launch line up, but no real major biggies in that list and one thing I did pick up on in the quoted article....

Only a handful were exclusive to the 360 article says, and yet in the list of the launch titles for the wii

    Call of duty 3
    Blazing Angels
    Cars
    Rayman Raving Rabbids
    Farcry
    Need for Speed Carbon
    Metal Slug
    Madden NFL 07
    Marvel Ultimate Alliance
    GT Pro Series
    Dragon Ball Z : Budoki 2
Legend of Zelda : Twilight Princess
    Blitz: The League
    Spongebob Square Pants ??

None of those can be called 'exclusive' and monster 4x4 & open season are debatable too.

So put simply yes its got a big launch line up, but only a couple of guaranteed AAA titles (metroid & zelda)....

I'd rather have a launch line up of 4 titles of quality such as

    Metroid
    Zelda
    SSBM
    Mario Galaxy

Than the majority of the no doubt mediocre to appauling lineup there. Sorry.

So you've got the games, but have you got the looks
Dont get me wrong, I think your alright
But monster trucks wont keep me up in the middle of the night..... That dont impress me much......
    :D

Actually the Spongebob one is sort of exclusive...the versions on other consoles are vastly different games IIRC.

    Zelda not exclusive?

And I'm not sure about Far Cry, it sounds like it may be a sequel or spin-off rather than a port, but I'm not 100% sure.

    And while we're at it...
    Elebits
    Excite Truck
    Trauma Center
    Metroid Prime 3
    Dragon Quest Swords
    Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles 2
Rayman Raving Rabbids (timed exclusive like RE4)
    Wii Sports
    Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam
    Super Monkey Ball: Bannana Blitz
    Red Steel

    Are all exclusive.

And GT Pro Series is sort of exclusive in North America- it's never been released in NA, except on Wii now. Outside of NA it's been released on other consoles though.

That's a lot of exclusive titles, and we're getting Super Mario Galaxy within 3 months of launch and Smash Bros in early 2007.

Of course Zelda is NOT exclusive. It's released on the Gamecube the same day, yes the Wii has exclusive wii features, but by no means can you call it exclusive.

Dont get me wrong I'm getting a wii, just like I say, that lineup bar a few games really does not impress me.

Raving Rabbids is available on Xbox 360 & Ps3 November 2006 here, so maybe only the states have a timed exclusive, or by timed they mean 2 weeks :D

Well, it's (EDIT: Zelda) a Nintendo exclusive, so there :p

I could have sworn the director of the game (EDIT: Rayman) came out and said they were pushing back the other versions to focus on Wii...I'll have to search for that article.

Ah, right, it was in Nintendo Power.

    http://www.dsrevolution.com/article.php?articleid=1322

And while a lot of the titles may not appeal to me or you, they do to the average gamer. Madden, Need For Speed, and Tony Hawk games sell like hot cakes. They are HUGE. One of the primary reasons the Dreamcast died because EA didn't support them (not one game).

Having that much third party support, especially from EA and Ubisoft, is a huge thing.

Allow me to resurrect one of my old threads:

Your favorite US Launch Titles Lineup

You were the first to reply. ^_^

Looks like the PS2 had more.

It's interesting to see how the Wii list grew since June.

    I count 29 for PS2. Cool, thanks.

If Mario gets pushed up to launch and one more launch title appears, Nintendo could match that.

    Weird !!!!!

Here's the UK launch/release date for Rayman on all platforms

    DS/PSP/360/PS3/PS2/GBA/PC/XBOX is 17/11/06

Who knows ? either way it's not really exclusive :p :p

I wanted a proper mario game at launch this time, 6 months is too long to wait (as with GC) or 12 months (NSMB DS)

I read your post right, just weird that all the other format previews and such dont mention the game being pushed back and the release dates online dont seem to reflect it either. That's what I mean by weird !!!

So far only wii sport (aeroplane), zelda, metroid & trauma center are must buys for me.

elebits looks too on the rails like pokemon snap or a timecrisis game from the videos. I thought it would be more pikmin, but doesnt appear so.

    --------------

As for ps3, it's launch lineup is even less attractive, and the of games that are confirmed, i can get these ones my 360 anyway..

    COD3
Need 4 Speed Crap - sorry Carbon!
    Marvel Ultimate Alliance
    Rainbow Six Vegas
    Madden NFL 07
    Sonic the Hedgehog
    NBA Live 07

leaving very VERY few exclusive launch titles...

    Motorstorm never impressed me
    Warhawk ? Yeah so wat
Lair Order - is that like law & order  never heard of it
Crud Racer 7 - Riiiiiiidggggggge Raccccerrrrrrr
    Resistance Fall of Man

Of them Resistance is the only one that looks even slightly remotely interesting to me.

Pretty dissapointed all round, maybe I'm really having an off day :D

Also so much for PS3 amazing power here's two screenshots from Fatal Inertia

They look nothing like the videos they showed originally and look VERY VERY bad.... :( Next gen MY ASS !!!!

If that's what we have to look forward to then SHOOT ME NOW !!!

I'm only interested in two of the Wii launch titles....MP3 and Zelda.....the others are mehhhhhhhh.

The PS3 line up does not look interesting but a little better:

    Warhawk
    COD3
    R:FOM
    TC: Rainbow 6
    Bladestorm

....I was hoping Heavenly sword and A.Creed would of been in there.

Somehow that second screenshot makes me think of The Silent Cartographer.

Honestly, while I agree the shots don't look great, I'd prefer to see it in real-time video form, sometimes still just don't do a game justice.

True I guess! We'll keep our fingers crossed, but somthing tells me that the launch lineup bar the obvious (cod3, vegas) are going to be far FAR from quality benchmarks, but that was the case too with the 360, but with a 12 months to catch up I would have hoped ps3 would have had somthing amazingly killer exclusive at launch.

I guess the games that were intended to be have slipped back, and if they are anything like the 360 launch titles that slipped back, you'll be waiting till september next year or later before you see them......

    More games = more win!

Why do people keep calling 'Red Steel' a 'AAA' title? Have you see that game? Christ.

Can't say I'm impressed at all. A bunch of mediocre titles, Zelda with extra stuff (like Widescreen support - come on!) and another first-person Metroid game.

What I could've used is a new 2D Castlevania, a new Final Fantasy Tactics game (screw CC - that game blew), Zelda with a decent (fun) combat system and a more realistic (less kid-friendly) story, a remake or sequel of Super Mario RPG and a decent Tom Clancy game or two.

Now that would be a launch.

Looks like I'll be waiting to pick one up until Smash Bros. Brawl comes out.

? Why ? We already now that hardware wise they are the same. Dont get your hopes up. The best games at PS3 launch will be COD3 & Vegas. Both will look IDENTICAL on the xbox 360

Other games like those screenshots of fatal inertia show, will be mediocrity of the highest order.

Agreed....not the least bit interested in this game..although it can turn out to be good....we will have to wait and see but it doesn' look great at all.

Those screen shots are alright and until they are released I won't rate them but saying mediocrity is kinda harsh for games not released.

Half of those tittles for the Will looks average at best including Red Steel.......and I really hope they added more to MP3 than just being a true FPS...because(I'm a Prime fan) it was getting old.

I think I'd prefer it if developers concentrated on making a game with decent gameplay rather than decent graphics.

I was scrolling down fast, saw the pictures, and thought it was a Wii game (or XBox!) then scrolled up to see PS3. Wow. That's bad. But I'm sure it's just one bad example, there'll be much better.

That Inertia game does not look like it's on a £450 gaming console. that looks 2002 PC quality. I swear if Sony want people to spend that much on a system they are going to need mind blowing graphics, especially at launch when the system will cost the most.

but really. is this the "HD era" Sony promised? So little AA, so much badness. well not badness, I'd just expect the PS3 to do better than that cack.
