It only goes on at start and when you have a new message. I've heard the easiest way is to send yourself a new message and keep it new, then it will always stay on.

Under Set up do your have it set up to have a Bright, Dim or no light?(I think those are the choices)

They have to be new 'internet' messages, not just the little 'post-it note' type.

Do you have a disc in? ...I remember hearing the light went off when a disc was in the drive, although I have no idea if this is actually true.

The light is not this complicated....

It lights up when you receive a message. This means when one of your friends has sent you a message from their console to yours, or when Nintendo has sent out a message stating there is some sort of update ready.

It does turn off when you turn the console on (if it is lit up in the first place) and will always briefly light up whenever you turn on the console (if there is no message).

    Simple.

    Separate question:

I was playing Wii Sports this weekend. Is there a way to turn off the auto replay alltogether (besides hitting the "A" key each time)?
