watch the whole 8 minutes or so of the wii interface here on ign site:
    http://media.games.ign.com/articles/693/693580/vids_1.html
    it's the latest nr 30 video ...

it also shows loading gamecube discs and other settings like screen/sound/rating lock/memory managment etc.

    highly recommended

Very good. I just hope theres a way to stop folk I beat on Metroid online from entering my AC village :D . Other than that the 1 code system would be good.

I just watched IGN weekly (22mins long) and the full wii demo was there.

The thing that struck me was the setting menus and things looked very similar to front row in design.

For those that don't want to watch it...

It has both WPA and WPA2 support. Yay!

I like the fact that they give you a confirmation on the sensor being on top/bottom of your screen...cool.

Smooth intake of the GC/Wii CD but I wonder about the GC cd...can it be inserted only in the center and will it be blocked if someone was to try inserting the cd far off the center.

    Bless

Wow. Very simple, powerful, and intuitive. Something I'd expect from Nintendo.

Too bad the things I'd like to see most; internet browser, wii connect 24, other channels, are not yet available.

    Can't wait for the 19th :D .

    Very good news indeed.

Now I'm wondering if we will be able to use the Wii as a DS access point so I can keep my home network WPA encrypted instead of WEP.

Has anyone else seen the [empty] Wii boxes?

I saw several at Toys R Us on Saturday night while Christmas shopping for my (soon to be) 2 y/o daughter. One thing I noticed that made me a little more giddy...the box has the Opera logo on it, so it looks like now they're going to include the browser with every console, rather than sell it separately. (This may be old news, but I hadn't heard it at least.)

Smart idea not to nickle-and-dime us. :D

I'm going to sell my Windows laptop and use the money for Christmas for my daughter + a Wii for me and my wife. :)

Yup. It's free until June 2007.

Nintendo went with a third party developer for their browser (Opera) so they may not have much control on the pricing in the future.

Wow, that's not bad at all. I'd assume most Wii owners will be on board by June '07, so the majority will get their free browser fix.

Back OT - yes, one of the things that I noticed in that video that made me glad was seeing WPA (and namely WPA2 since that's what I use now) support. Man I can't wait...

Yay! Question answered without me starting new thread. Funny, Macrumors search didn't bring it up, but a Google search of "Wii and WPA" brings the macrumors post to the top!
