I'm buying this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16833343001) for an old ibook G3 that I want to tether via Bluetooth with my tmobile dash phone for its internet connection.

Will it show up in my system preferences and become part of the operating system as if it has always had bluetooth or am I barking up the wrong tree? (The adapter says its compatible with mac OSX 10.x...

If they're telling the truth about Mac compatibility, then yes. My Bluetooth dongle showed up in the menubar on my old PowerMac G4 without any trouble. It was a Trendnet with the Widcomm stack, for what it's worth.

Thanks Matticus! I'll let you know how the old G3 percieves aftermarket bluetooth!

well, when I put one of those (similiar to yours) on my old B&W, it worked notta problemo...

just had to go into sys prefs & pair it to the machine, and presto, it instantly worked w/ my headphones, cellphone, and mouse that I had at that time !
