Will AOL ever update AIM for Intel machines?

Chax (free) brings that and other new features (tabs, animated buddy icons, and more). It doesn't do content searching though.

Chax does do a lot for iChat.

I don't really see anything mentioned that official AIM does that iChat doesn't, unless you like AIM's interface better for some reason.

I'll recommend Adium once 1.0 goes final, because it will supposedly have working file transfers and direct connections for once (I use and love it anyway, but sometimes I need to open iChat for those things).
