Can you explain, G5 edition of the card or are you referring to something else?

    Thanks

There are two versions of the X1900 for the Mac:

OEM Radeon X1900XT - For Mac Pro only, available only from Apple through Apple Store or as a BTO component when buying a Mac Pro.

ATI Radeon X1900 G5 Mac Edition - This card is based of the X1900GT released for the PC market. It is compatible only with the Quad G5 and other PCIe (dual core) G5 towers. This card is available retail through ATI or any of the more popular vendors like OWC.

Note: Neither of these cards is compatible with the AGP-based G5 towers...

Are you looking for a video card for your G5? What do you have now?

I got the quad when it first came out, a GeForce 6600. I was not willing to wait months to get my quad for the better cards. Do you have a suggestion other than the X1900? This card is underpowered but the last time I looked at upgrading I felt the prices were unreasonable considering the same card on a PC was half as much.

    Thanks

I wouldn't worry about the X1900 G5 Mac Edition. Its PC counterpart, the X1900GT, does very well against the GeForce 7800GT.

It's true that you're still paying a "Mac tax" premium for the card over an identical PC model but even so it's cheaper and easier than trying to get a 7800GT OEM card.

Thanks for the link. You are not kidding about getting the 7800, it was costly and a hassle, I gave up looking for a while.
