I will be a newcomer to the iPad club with the iPad2. I am very picky about and usually against cases, but think that one is very necessary for the iPad. With that said, I really like the simplicity and minimalism of the apple smart cover, but the fact that it does not protect the back is not acceptable for me.

The perfect case for me would be one that that is exactly the same as the smart cover on the front, folding parts and all, but also covers the back. I would also like it to hold the iPad with a snap-in like style on the corners/sides and not a slide-in style.

Has anyone found something like this? This case is close, but the back is too plasticy and I am not sure that front cover will fold like I want. http://www.marware.com/ipad-kindle-cases-and-covers/ipad-2-cases/MicroShell-Folio-Black-iPad-2-case

How about this? http://www.grovemade.com/products/ipad-2-case-pre-order

I know it doesn't have the seams like you want, but it is functionally the same as a smart cover. It will even light up and turn off the screen when you open and shut it. My friend has the iphone version of this, and he loves it. It has interior shock absorption which also keeps from the case scratching the iphone due to dust or sand. Anyways, just thought I'd throw that out there.

i just posted a thread referencing this specific case, the new zoogue ipad 2 case(http://www.zoogue.com) I owned the one for the original ipad and reviewed it on my youtube channel and really loved the features and versatility of it. Today still stands as my fav ipad case and i tried, speck candyshell, apple case, cyber acoustics case, switch easy nude etc... use Promo Code ZGRUIZ2 and you can save 20% when you pre-prder, ships end of march.

Thanks for your suggestions. The groove case is really nice, but it is a little overboard visually for me. I want the case to be as minimalist as the device itself.

The zoogue case is little bit too bulky.

Like I said, I am really picky about cases. Maybe one day I will find the right person for me...err...case for me.

This Marware case looks great. It seems they built in a smart cover to their case - it says the flap in the front has magnets and will turn the screen on or off when you open and close it. This one has just moved to the top of my list. MatP I'm looking for something along the same lines as you - let us know if you find something a bit better/minimalistic than this. If not I think I'm in for this one.
