what i thought panther does remember the views and stuff.

Panther does everything you mention.

the Database part of Tiger will be the use of Spotlight. Which will allow database searches within Finder to find files with certain metadata. I'm unsure if all of the Finder is database driven though, meaning that all data is queried in the database or if it uses it's traditional method to find files in directories/folders. Seems it would be faster to use the database of spotlight though so i have a feeling it probably will be using the database.. any ADC members who know if this is true or not?
