With my Windows version of quake 3, I just installed the point release, and copy the pk0.pk3 file of of my legal, store-bought copy of quake 3, and I can play. Can I do something similar with Battlefield 1942? Thanks!

Nope, sorry, not possible. Also, the Mac version was done by a different company.

According to, there are Mac, Windows, and Linux versions of Quake 3. I bought the Windows version, so I had to use the workaround.

Can a Windows CD key be used with the Mac version of BF1942? Also, where did you find the necessary downloads for Q3?

    EDIT: VThanks.

If BF1942 requires the CD to be in the drive while being played, then I doubt you will be able to do the Quake III trick. I tried it with CoD once and it didn't work because of differences in some supporting pk3 files.

-Off topic: To do the Quake III trick you need the 1.32 point release and the necessary pk3 file from the CD. This link has all the details: I found the update at point release at
