yes and no. it depends what you're using the OS for.

Vista has much better memory management then windows XP and as it would turn out it actually runs games much smoother then XP. So if you're a gamer vista is "better". if not u may prefer OS X.

here's a real video of windows vista: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3AwI1mKrLs (its a video of beta 1 i believe... vista RC1 has many more features)

Windows Vista sucks. Microsoft just tries way too hard "visually" to be like Apple. Why try if you can't do it right? UGH!

I installed it the other day, and I'd like to say, it's really confusing! Whatever happened to user functionality? The GUI is by far, the WORST and most confusing I've ever seen. To the average user, they wouldn't be able to pick up on stuff nearly as easy as they would on Windows XP, or previous Windows versions for that matter. And even those were hell to pick up on if you were an average user.

Mac OS X is by far, the most easy, intuitive, and elegant operating system ever made. Microsoft trying to be like Apple? Don't make me laugh...Zune is also a piece of SH*T I'd like to add. :p

    In general:

Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) == Vista Ultimate Edition

    so therefore:

Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) > Vista Ultimate Edition

    and also:

Mac with 10.5 (cost) < PC with Vista Ultimate Edition (cost)

So on the Mac side it's all good.

For gamers though, Vista will be better (especially as there are fewer Mac games.)

Wait till both are released and then go to a computer store to try them out. That's how you'll know.

Or download RC1 now and make your choice. It's pretty damn close to the final version now.

An imprtant thing to remember is that OSX is at its 4th and soon to be 5th revision, and that it is built ontop of Unix which is the standard in OS stability. XP, now that it has hit SP2 is relatively stable, at least realative to other editions of Windows. My understanding is that Vista will be making some significant changes to the OS and may infact turn out to be less stable then XPsp2. It may take MS a SP or two to get the Vista right.

Gotta love it. :D But you know, I DO use Windows, but only for gaming of course. It's the only thing it's good for.
