wireless problems, stain, screen flicker on MB

    My friend bought a MB back in July.

    Without AppleCare.

    He recently noticed the stain problem. Also, his screen flickers like mad when not on a high brightness. Finally, his wireless works at college, at the apple store, but not at his house.

    So Apple decides they would fix it all if he pays. When my friend talked about the wireless, he mentioned that it works at the Apple store, at college, but not at home. The genius (or maybe it was someone on the phone) said he knew exactly what the problem was, but wouldn't tell him because my friend had to pay $54 first.

    That's all I know about the wireless problem: That it works at school and the apple store, but not at his house. He has had it working at my house too, but that was when he first got it so the problem might have develope afterwards.

    Any thoughts?

    Apple are in the wrong, all Mac's have a 1 year warranty, as long as he hasn't voided the warranty in some way (and using it doesn't do that) he should get it repaired for free.

    Are you sure your friend talked to Apple?

    Your friend shouldn't have to pay anything for repairs because all macbooks are still within the 1 year warranty. Applecare wouldn't be necessary until the first year is up. Phone support for non-hardware issues expires after 90 days, however, this doesn't sound like a software problem, so Apple should talk over the phone about it and will cover the repair costs. Have your friend call Apple Support (1-800-275-2273) and they will send a pre-posted box so he/she can send the computer to repair.

    Oh. The phone support is what expires? Maybe he both took it into an Apple store and called.


    So if I understand this correctly, Apple will replace the case, the screen for free?

    And a genius will give him free tech support?
