Description:: Apple has made a rare (and welcome) proactive move. It’s offering some advice to .Mac users currently experiencing a rash of annoying “enter your password” alerts in Apple Mail.

Dear Apple: Please fix the Mail app!

That's what I always do when one of my POP mailboxes times out.

I always thought it was surprisingly poorly designed (especially for an Apple product). If a mailbox times out, put an alert on the mailbox icon and keep trying, but don't keep asking me for the password. That's not the problem.

Since the default behavior of canceling the login is to take the mailbox offline, this really isn't much of a tip.

I don't see how this is a work-around. It simply describes the problem and how to hit the cancel button.

Does this permanently work for some people? For me the problem keeps coming back.
