I'm not sure how many other countries (if any at all) celebrate labor day this Monday...

Does anyone here have to go to work or go to school on the 2nd?

My school district is stupid, and I have to go to school on monday... nazi's...

I don't have to go back to class until Sep. 4, two days after labor day. Starting then, I'll be posting significantly less than some 20 or 30 posts per day. :p

    Re: Work/School on Labor Day

that's weird, I've never heard of not celebrating Labor Day - its a national holiday isn't it?

But I'll be working, but not at work, and not all day, most likely in the morning and maybe a little at night.

The only schools I would expect don't support Labor Day would be religious schools. Philly's Catholic schools didn't support most government holidays. Also, most hospitals don't either.

Thankfully, I don't work or go to school this Monday.

i believe that Japanese and English schools will be starting on Monday because it's just past September 1.

    Not in the UK

Tis not a holiday of any sort here. I think it's only in the USA (and maybe Canada). Of course as I work for a US firm I'm still aware of it as our systems (that I develop and support) don't run on class 1 US holidays. Strange old world...

well, here it is, Labor Day, and I'm getting ready for school...

All because my stupid superintendent decided to take labor day away to give us more time for christmas break...

you can see my school district's web site at: http://mws.mcallen.isd.tenet.edu

    Have fun...

    Here's mine:

The pic with the two tie-wearing people at the Pascack Hills link are the Vice Principal and Principal. I'm sure you can figure out who looks more popular. The Site doesn't always get updated quickly, but once class starts on Wed. there may be an update.

    labor day

well in most of the world it's may first.

it was established at the First Congress of the Second Socialist International in paris (1889).

it's a national holiday where i live and there's usually a demonstration that turns into a riot after some hours.

    Re: labor day

I hope that you meant that Labor Day was May 1st, not that September 2nd was May 1st. :)

Unfortunately the Korean markets don't celebrate Labor Day. Which means I'm typing this from work.
