Hey all, I'm looking at getting WoW but I'm not sure wether it'll run on the MacBook I have that only has 1.83ghz and 512mb ram. I'd like to know if anyone using this MB is running WoW any good?

I know most of you will say upgrade to 1gb ram but thats not an option at the moment, not untill late jan anyway.

    Only a search away...

First result to Macrumors. I will even quote the related post for you

Just to let you know that comments like these aren't really encouraging.
Everyone is "donating" his free time to the forum because he really wants to and not because he feels obliged to do it.

You should at least do some basic search (either directly to the forum or to Google) before you post a new thread.
Not only it will provide you with a faster answer but it will also keep the forum noise at a minimum level.

    Upgrade to 1GB RAM ;)

It's going run run ok, you'll get the basic idea and wotnot. Don't expect anything too wonderful, though. Even maxed out on RAM, WoW on the MacBook's isn't fantastic. Certainly playable, but it's not going to knock your socks off.

My wife plays on her new CD macbook refurb, 512ram 1.83 ghz. It doesnt run great, but as she isnt an avid gamer by any means, just likes to play occasionally, she doesn't even see the difference between hers and mine (new stock 17inch C2D).

As a reasonably hardcore gamer myself, I am pleased with how my 17incher runs it and was pleasantly surprised to see how well the Macbook ran it as well.

If you are lookig for massive framerates, smooth game play, no system lag, Macbook isn't going to cut it. If you are looking for something that will run WoW and let you play at a modest framerate, then don't even bother updating it. You will be fine.

I beg to differ. WoW on my 2.0Ghz C2D Macbook w/2GB memory is smooth sailing. I've been playing WoW on Bootcamp XP since November, and recently switched over to OS X with patch 2.0 when Blizzard optimized WoW for intel mac. But yeah, without the 2.0Ghz and 2GB combo, i could see issues.

But so far I've had no problems whatsoever, no major lag or framerate issues, and I run with the settings set to medium-high. Only time I had issues was in Blackrock Depths in the Lyceum with hundreds of patrol mobs around. The way to get around it was to not have the health bar display on (default is the 'V' key to turn on/off) but with the bars off it was fine. Battlegrounds like AV are smooth as well.

To the OP: Search. There are tons of threads on WoW + Macbooks.
