Just watched the trailer... even though it's an Oliver Stone movie, it looks like he's going to be taking more of a United 93 approach to the movie... not getting into all of the conspiracy theories, but coming at the day from the perspective of those most affected by it.

I'm sure it's decently done, but aren't these movies kind of a cheap shot?

I feel it's still too early to revisit that event in a Hollywood movie.

Would you expect anything less from Hollywood? Not surprised at all.

There is nothing wrong with brawling at this. Its the human thing to do.

I watched from about 20 blocks away that morning. I had my video camera with me and shot about 3 minutes of footage before I had to stop. I have never shown it to anyone besides my wife.

What a load of sensationalist crap.

Hollywood should leave this stuff well alone.

I agree. The dialogue is embarrassing.

Wow...TWO 911 movies in the same year. I can only guess their from different studios...I wonder what their motive$ are.

Then again I guess that is the American way, homogenize it for mass consumption and throw it up on the big screen with flashing lights! Let's Roll!

The people making, acting in, and paying money to see these films should be embarrassed. I certainly agree that history needs to be preserved, but everyone still remembers that day quite clearly in their minds. This isn't like a WWII movie or Titanic where it's for a generation of people who we not alive at the time.

50, 30, heck even 20 years from now films like this would be appropriate and relevant. But right now they are just in bad taste. What's next? Operation Enduring Freedom?

Don't know if this is an insider, educated guess, but probably a good one.

I wonder if these movies coming out have anything to do with the upcoming election;) ? Public sympathy could translate into nostalgia for the GOP come November. Or it could possibly translate into trying to soften the image of all of the intrusions into our privacy lately (Patriot Act, NSA programs).

Somehow I doubt that that is Oliver Stone's motive.

    :D

Anybody plan to actually watch the movie? I'm not.

Perhaps this would be a good poll question...

I really don't have any desire to cry for two hours, or to support people making money off a tragedy. *shrug*

For some reason, this hit me pretty hard. I tend to let things roll off pretty easily, but I very distinctly remember crying that whole week. The whole thing was really unfathomable.

The notion that Hollywood has actually made a movie about the whole 911 terrorist attack thing is just as unfathomable, if not more so. This is supposed to be entertainment? WTF? How depraved does one have to be in order to exploit this tragedy for monetary gain?
