if u had a macbook pro 15in would u return it for the macbook if ur kind of bothered by the grainy display...does the grain bother anyone enough on here that they would do that?...thats the only problem on this machine..this display on the macbook is better in that regard. but i do like how the mbp display is brighter and has better contrast. the uneven backlighting doesn't even bother me. its just the grain!..is it worth it to get a macbook instead?...i also need to run vista when it comes out...i know the mbp can handle it, but i also heard and seen some youtube video of vista w/aero glass workin on the macbook....i was going to just buy a pc with a superior lcd..like the sony's but i didn't like the overall look and feel of the laptops, some of the lcd's were grainy too...
...so my only choice is keep the mbp or get a macbook...i can't return it and not have a laptop. so i need something..do u think the grain is that big of an issue that you would exchange for a macbook instead?..or not worth it. ...would anyone here exchange their macbook for a macbook pro if they could - knowing that the lcd is grainy? thanks

i'm not sure what you mean by grainy but if you're having problems with your LCD, you should be able to exchange it for the exact model.

if you like the glossy display, ask for a glossy instead of a matte when you exchange it.

yeah what he said. I actually haven't even seen this "grainy" problem. I've only heard about it on MR. My friend has a matte 15 MBP and it looks great.

It seems that most Macbook Pro C2D are affected by the grain problem. Mine arrived yesterday and has a glossy, terribly grainy display. I'm actually thinking about sending it back and getting a Blackbook instead. The Macbook display is smaller, but looks a thousand times better than the crap they put in the MBPs right now.

I wouldn't trade the MBP for a MB.

Got mine with the ADC discount anyway, so even if a new improved model comes out sometime in the future I can unload it and switch to that one with minimal loss. There are pretty good odds that with Leopard (and resolution independence, hence higher res MBP screens) Apple might be able to source for higher quality screens.

If youre not happy with your MBP then get rid of it, I did. Lifes too short. :)

Indeed, but I've already switched so much of my apps over, guess I am now a sucker

I will definitely get rid of it the moment this mythical 12" MBP starts showing up in stores and doesn't exhibit this issue.

Fair enough...I just didnt have the time to wait for Apple to sort it out. I had a lot of issues with two mbps, thre grainyness being one.
