I got a great upgrade with the 1.7 patch! My frame rates are up about 15%-30% and it just seems a lot smoother moving around (getting nearly 40 fps in the dense part of IF). Textures also look sharper. This is with a stock dual 2.0 G5 and Radeon 9600 Pro/64, 1.5 GB RAM, 128x960 & medium settings. The weird thing is I can't find anything about Mac improvements in the patch notes but I don't think I'm imagining it. Anyone else notice a change?

Well, I just got a 23" ACD and my video card is choking a bit at native rez, so I can't really report faster frame rates. I did notice that the game looked sharper, but I had attributed that to the ACD.

What video card are you using with your 23" ACD? I just installed an X800XT, and with my ACD at 1920x1200 WoW is a beautiful thing to watch. Heh, my boys play  We turned on almost all the video options but kept Terrain Distance at 50% and Antistropic Filtering at about 75%. After months of playing with a 64MB ATI 9600 Pro, my boys are seeing things they never saw before. Frame rate hangs around 40fps most of the time which isn't lightning, but it is acceptable.

I have a 9600 OEM that was bought on eBay. I couldn't handle that 5200, and at the time I wasn't making enough money for anything better. Next month I may buy the X800. Is it worth the price tag?

It's not cheap at $400+ but I say it's worth it. Having a 64MB video card in my Dual 2Ghz Power Mac with 2GB RAM was surely the weak link in the chain. If anything else, it get's my boys excited about coming over on the weekends so they can dive into those beautiful graphics in their favorite games ;)
