I have a file from a windows computer with .WPS as an ending. OSX won't open neither does Open Office. It is some sort of written document, if there a program that opens it. I think it might be Microsoft Works (oxymoron) document file, but not sure, and ideas?

    Have you tried Office X?

Otherwise you should be able to open in Word on a PC and then save as a .doc

.WPS files are WordPerfect files which should open with Word or OpenOffice (although you say it doesn't work). :(
