I would have thought it'd be a Google software update running on your mac? are you using Chrome?

If you have any google software installed on your mac:

Google Chrome
Picasa for Mac
Google Drive

This is the autoupdate utility. All google software updates itself without ever prompting the user, and updated files are just moved into place quietly.

It's like pushed updates...

Or Google Earth Pro.

The good news is, you can go to the LaunchDaemons folder

(in Finder: Menu Bar > Go > Go to Folder…, enter /Library/LaunchDaemons, click the Go button)

and then delete the offending daemon, probably com.google.keystone.daemon.

Empty Trash, Restart. Done.

What is the problem with allowing Google to update the apps you have installed yourself on your computer?
