I don't really remember big WWDC announcements in the past. Could someone refresh my memory?

It just seems everyone is getting dressed up for a party that's been strictly casual in the past.

    - Jaguar Finder improvements: integrated search, multithreaded, automatic thumbnails, spring loaded folders
    - Quicktime 6 integrated into Jaguar.
    - Universal Access
    - Quartz Extreme: "Takes the compositing engine in Quartz, and accelerates it in graphics cards. Combines 2D, 3D and video in one hardware pipeline via OpenGL"
    - Inkwell. Handwriting recognition technology. From the Newton presumably!
    - Dynamic IP discovery.
    - iChat: AIM-compatible messaging built in to Jaguar.
    - Rack mount server in a week.

I remember that, someone took a quick pic of "Coming Soon" and a picture of an X-Serve underneath.

That was one thing that stirred up the forums.

    also known as Rendezvous

the death of OS 9 was declared by Steve Jobs at WWDC too, if that counts as a major announcement.
