I have an iMac 1.83 Intel Core Duo. I'm trying to install X11 so I can install GIMP and OpenOffice.org. I read on Apple's site to put in the install disk and it will be in there. I looked in both install disks and haven't found X11. Does anyone know where I can just find the file on the internet for me to download? You can only download X11 for OSX 10.3 - 10.3.8 but I am running 10.4.8...

It's on the first install DVD that came with your Mac. You'll find it under "Optional Installs".

I tried the install disks. I do not even have a package labeled "Optional Install.mpkg" and I checked everywhere else on the disk...

Look again...it has to be there. It's at the very bottom.

Don't forget you can scroll in that window- I didn't see that for at first and was frustrated with the same problem.

Yep, it's under optional installs. Try spotlight if you can't find it.
