Hey guys, I have a stock MP and I just ordered the radeon x1900xt from a third party vendor. Is there something else included in the apple upgrade kit or some other compatibility issue that I'm missing? I knew it would cost me a few extra bucks, but i did it anyway. Just wondering if anyone else has gone down this same road already.

MP has been treating me well, upgraded to 3 GB of memory and 3 additional sata drives. So far so good.

So wait—did or didn't you order the Apple version of the X1900 XT? The standard PC version will not work with the Mac Pro. The Apple/Mac Pro version is different, it's changed for compatibility with EFI and such.

This is exactly what I'm interested in finding out, i just ordered the card today, so I can still the cancel the order if needed. I wasn't sure if there was something unique about the apple upgrade kit, it sounds like there is. thanks for the info apfhex.

The Apple X1900 XT is indeed different from the regular X1900 XT, which won't work in Mac OS X.
