I am considering buying an Xbox 360, but I am not sure if I have a fast enough connection to play. My 360 would be hooked up wirelessly, and I generally get between 300 kbps- 700 kbps. Is this fast enough to play live? Or is something in excess of 1 mbps necessary?

Is that up or down? Most providers have different up/down speeds. I have 10 down, 1 up. Before that I had something like 3-5 down and 128 or 256 up I believe. Worked fine. The up speed is more important for hosting games but if you're just going to be a client of the host you should be fine.

Sorry, thats download speed. I wouldn't expect to be able to host on slow DSL. So it wouldn't be a problem to be a client at 300 kbps download?
At my other house, I get like 5 mbps download and a meg or so upload, so i assume i could host then.

I have a 512kb line (not dl speed) and that chokes on Live. I sometimes think its not worth subscribing.

That should be fine. I'd say a good 512Kb connection is all you really need, and that sort of connection is going to range in actual speed (at most you'd get a 64KB/sec download rate with that type of connection).
