i tried launching xcode and writing the 'hello world' program.
the first thing i did was launch xcode which i have in my dock.
i then chose new project from the file menu. i then chose a cocoa application.
i then clicked next. and then i wrote the name of the file into the project name field. and then clicked finish. when i double-clicked the mainmenu.nib file according to a book i am reading it is supposed to open up interface builder.
when interface builder launches, it shows a blank window, and a mainmenu.nib file, but the cocoa-menus window does not open. in the book it says to click and drag for example, a button. i don't have the button to click and drag. just wondering what is wrong with my version of xcode.

Are you using Xcode 3.0 with Leopard? The book is probably written for Xcode 2.0 and Tiger, there are quite a few differences, especially in the interface builder.
