Lol..so i go to preorder 32gb ip5 today. then im at work keep thinking about playing with the s3 for like 10 minutes when i was waiting in the store for a rep. I go back to play with it some more and long story short I cancelled my preorder and got a S3. So far I'm very impressed and about to install cyanogenmod for jelly bean.

I know this isn't an android forum. I get it. I still love iphone but for me personally the bigger size screen when I was using it to look at webpages especially, sealed the deal. I got 30 days to return and i will if I don't like it. Also very impressed with ATT LTE in NYC. was getting 12mbps down and 9mbps up during lunch hour.

    That's about it. :)

This is an IPHONE forum, you imbecile.
It's not out of line at all to defend ourselves. I'm sure some of us have gone in there and stirred some trouble, but you're on our land. Respect that.

It is great that you found what you are looking for in a phone. The Galaxy SIII is a great device but it isn't for everyone just like the iPhone. There is no electronic device that works for everyone.

The software layout on the s3 just looks cheap, all the lads at work have them and it isn't for me!

Having something you enjoy using is the most important thing. Glad to hear you found it!

I never could get used to the keyboard on it but other than that I think it's a great phone.

Sounds like an impulse buy at this point. Let us know how it goes in 30 days and if you still enjoy it.

I feel you OP, don't let the Apple fanbois get to you. My biggest gripe with Android is how much malware gets into the app store... be careful.

It's still an IPHONE forum, regardless.

The alternative section was ONLY made because so many Android users were making topics about there glorious Android phones, and bashing the iPhone at the same time.

We are trying to coexist by giving you your own separate section of the pool. Don't overstay your welcome.

If it wasn't for my other apple stuff, and the apps I have, I would have an S3.. It's twice the device of the iPhone 5.. The iPhone may well be the last iPhone I own..

Developers will go to town with android now it has critical mass.. No Apple restrictions..

I wish apple made the 5 in the S3 form factor.

I might get the galaxy note for my work phone though

I tried out the Galaxy S3 because of how everyone said it was so great and it was abysmal. Even though it has an extremely powerful CPU and 2GB of ram it is far more laggy than my iPhone 4 was due to the extremely poor android optimization compared to Apple. It's unacceptable, and the whole thing honestly felt really nasty due to the cheap case, they could have easily fixed it.

Considering the iPhone 5 is 260% faster than the iPhone 4, and the iPhone 4 is slower than the galaxy S3 there's a huge real world performance gap that needs to be fixed. No phone in this catagory should ever hang during basic opperations.

I did like the Galaxy S3 screen for it's contrast ratio, but it was really dim, my number one complaint about the iPhones which has gone unchanged has been the contrast ratio.

Battery life on the S3 was also profoundly abysmal. Even though they claim more talk time than the competiton if you use it for other tasks the battery life tanks to absurd levels.

I wouldn't get the phone either way as I preffer the smaller form factor, as I usually have my phone in only one hand and am multi tasking and it's impossible to use the S3 that way but I was just shocked at how profoundly terrible the thing was at basic functions features and qualities.

If you really need a bigger screen it's the way to go though.

galaxy s III is completely overrated

    - cruddy battery life

    - it's running touchwiz

    - pentile matrix screen. BLEH.

    - you're at the mercy of Samsung for updates

    - the quality of the phone is abysmal

    - bigger screen doesn't always mean better.

You must have used a knockoff by accident (did you go into the Sumsang store?), because that's certainly not reflective of what everyone else is saying about the phone. If it were as awful as you say it is, I'm sure that there'd be at least one major tech blog who would report about it.

What he's saying is the iPhone 5 blows the S3 out of the water. I mean, Christ even the 4S kills the S3 in benchmarks. And the 4S was out months and months before the S3.

Close but no cigar. Maybe next time. Probably not.

That's a pretty far fetched theory. No it was a Samsung S3 that a good friend of mine had and I traded my iPhone for a day with him to test out and did a sim card swap with. It was a USA LTE phone but was running on 3g due to lack of coverage.

I think a lot of people mistake the Galaxy S3's fast LTE speed for the phone's actual performance so they get the impression it's quicker. It's not.

Here's a review of a comparison of the real world speed of the S3 vs the iPhone 4S.

I upgraded from the iPhone 4s 64gb to the Galaxy S3 international model (1.4ghz quad core, 1gb ram) and I love it, the screen is just as sharp as Apples and the phone performs just as fast if not faster in some tasks.

I never used Android in the past as it was inferior to iOS but has improved massively quite quickly and is now on par and some tasks better. The only thing that I did miss from Apple was iCloud backup as some graphic demanding games were optimized better for iOS.

I really wish Apple would use OLED though, it's a far better technology.

I have ordered the 64gb white iPhone 5 (love new gadgets :) ). Can't wait to get this on the 21st if not earlier :D

Main reasons I switched from Apple.

3.5" screen was far, far to small (95% the reason why I switched).
More features in the GS3 such as NFC and barometer (handy for weather but was used for faster GPS locks)
Like the openness of Android, something I missed from Windows 6.5 mobile and below in the past.

    Reason why I came back

Finally bigger screen, took them long enough.
    Better optimized games
    iCloud Backup
    Love the simplicity of iOS

I'm not an Apple fanboy or an Android one. Both OS's are very good. I previously upgraded from an iPhone 3GS to 4, 4S, GS3 now the iPhone 5.

LTE has nothing to do with actual performance. I have not yet seen any reviews saying that the GSIII is slow for day to day tasks and scrolling through the UI.

I don't know where you got that (Google says it's from some body builder blog?) but I'd believe Engadget's review more:

OK, you say, that's for the Exynos quad core model. Let's look at the VZW model review (which has the dual core Snapdragon S4), also from Engadget:

But what if Engadget were paid by Samsung? Let's look at Gizmodo's review. As you can tell, they were reviewing the model with the dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, not the quad Exynos.

    And GSMArena?

You get the idea. If your friend's phone had performance issues, perhaps he should take a look at what he has installed or was running all at the same time first.

Regardless of how many people will stand by the Galaxy S3 as a great phone.. there are people who will bash it without even really using it.

I (as a longtime Mac user) used to think the Windows fanbase was very biased when they would say how Macs are overpriced or Macs suck.. when they didn't even know how to use a Mac and never took the time to learn or give it a chance.

It seems the Apple community is just as bad defending it's precious iPhone.
And don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the iPhone is bad.. I've had ever version 2G - 4S.

Saying the S3 is bad is ridiculous. Especially when, if we are being honest, Apple was merely playing catchup with the iPhone 5. It isn't bad, but just about everything they announced for it.. Android has had for 1-2 years.

The reviews you are quoting are not in any way shape or form comparisons between the iPhone 4+ and the Samsung Galaxy S3. They are also not quantitative at all. They just say "it's fast". Fast compared to what? Fast is a meaningless term which tells you nothing factual whatsoever and is complete junk at juding anything.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is one of the fastest Android phones sure but the fact is that the iPhone 4S is faster at performing tasks than the Samsung Galaxy S3 in direct comparisons. In many technical benchmarks the dual core version scores very close to the iPhone 4S aswell, but the software hangups are the real issue...

Maybe I've been spoiled but I just find the S3's hiccups to be unacceptable, even a fraction of a delay in any opperation on a smartphone interface is really annoying.

I have an air, apple tv, and an ipad and I love my s3. I wouldn't let your immersion in Apple's ecosystem keep you from getting what you think is a better phone. My ipad does a great job fulfilling my ios needs.
