I thought this was hil-arious! Apparently some of the very few who happened to find a retailer who was selling these things early are having problems. Like any true Microsoft software, crashing seems to be part of the product description.

    Let the crashing Begin!

EDIT: I would like to make sure people understand... this is not because the software needs to connect to the store. There have been sucesses in installing, for some reason though others get this error.

On a side note. Why is restarting the fix all for Windows?

Does it.... does the Zune actually come in a plastic ziploc bag?

Sure looks like it from those photos.

And what is with that picture on the "Installation Error" window - looks like the girl at the bottom has been injured whilst having a threesome.

It's not just a crash, the installer doesn't run at all, and engadget's system should be clean of spyware, patched and not suffer other possible problems.

MS isn't having a good time atm.

    Yes it does.

    Surely that is not true.

Speaking of packaging, I sure like the new iPod packaging for the Nano and Shuffle.

Is it me or is the woman in the "Installation Error" screen crying?

Has is just dawned on her that she should have bought an iPod?

Is it me, or does plastic baggie packaging look like it is a used item or a discontinued item that you would find at a second hand store?

It sure is big that much is certain.

After transitioning to the iPod Nano (Black one with 8GB) it will be hard for me to even use a regular iPod, let alone something as huge as the Zune.

To install Zune the software must connect to the Zune site which has not yet been activated by microsoft. Thats why it crashes

But it has succeeded for some users, so that doesn't seem to be the problem.

What the frack is going on with this installation screen? You've got two girls making out while a third one cries? I don't get it. Maybe the two making out have iPods? :D

I just think we needed that picture to be displayed again, it's an instant classic. Just what IS happening to that poor girl?!

It's actually quite disturbing the more you look at it.

does it make sense to have to restart your computer just because you can't connect to a site on the internet?

I bet she's a Cylon, and that's why the other two won't make out with her. :D
