Enabling international character encodings

Terminal comes preconfigured with a common set of international character encodings enabled. If you want to use an encoding that is not shown in the window settings, you may need to enable it in the Encodings pane of Terminal preferences.

To enable character encodings:

  1. Choose Terminal > Preferences, and then click Encodings.

  2. Select the checkboxes to enable the encodings you want.

To have Terminal use an enabled encoding, select it in the Settings preferences.
