Preventing others from detecting keystrokes in Terminal

If you are concerned about the text you enter into Terminal being accessed in an unauthorized manner, you can set up Terminal to allow secure keyboard entry. This prevents other applications on your computer or the network from detecting and recording what is typed in into Terminal.

Before you turn on secure keyboard entry, make sure other applications on your computer don’t require keystrokes from Terminal.

To turn on secure keyboard entry:

Choose Terminal > Secure Keyboard Entry.

A checkmark next to Secure Keyboard Entry in the menu lets you know it’s turned on.
