Using the Text pane of Terminal preferences

To modify a setting, select it from the list, and then select from the options in the Settings preference pane.

To create a new setting, click the Add (+) button.

To delete a setting, select it in the Settings list, and then click the Delete (-) button.

To duplicate a setting, select it in the Settings list, and then choose Action menu > Duplicate Settings.

To restore a setting to the standard default configuration, select it in the Settings list, and then choose Action menu > Restore Defaults.

To use a setting created on another computer, choose Action menu > Import, and then select the Terminal settings file from the dialog.

To export a setting, choose Action menu > Export, and then select the location where you want to save the file.

To change the Font used for a setting, click Change, in the Font section, and then select the font, typeface, and size.

You can use the options in the text section to change the way text appears.

To apply smoothing to text , select the “Antialias text” checkbox.

To use bold fonts for emphasis, select the “Use bold fonts” checkbox.

To allow text to flash on and off, select the “Allow blinking text” checkbox.

To display of colors embedded in some terminal emulator standards, select the “Display ANSI colors” checkbox.

To add emphasis to bold text with color, choose the “Use bright colors for bold text” checkbox.

To change the color of the text, click the Text button, and then choose a color from the Colors palette.

To change the color of bold text, click the Bold Text button, and then choose a color from the Colors palette.

To change the color of the selected area, click the Selection button, and then choose a color from the Colors palette.

To change the cursor shape, select either the Block, Underline, or Vertical Bar radio button.

To change the color of the cursor, click the Cursor button, and then choose a color from the Colors palette.

To have the cursor in the Terminal window blink, select the “Blink cursor” checkbox.
