My theory: the root bug was already known during Sierra and...
Moreover, APPLE is out of sequence numbers: the security update by Nov 5th had also that same number.
2 weeks ago I swapped AFP for SMB. This week I did not have a single problem with
File Sharing between my 3 macs, not before - not between those...
I'm using SuperDuper! already; but Time Machine should work correctly as all macOS should.

The same here. Until now I found alternatives all the time. Lots of SUCCESS!
Just an idea: try to re-install abandoned applications in a Virtual system, like VirtualBox or such.
Of course THAT application should run OK!...
After several reboots I tried again.
At present Time Machine has performed correctly for several days.

Firefox 57.0 on my mac even refuses to show pdf's at all, but stores them after download.
