Has anyone else experienced an issue with their home button an 11.2? I upgraded today and I’ve already have a half dozen instances where I got to press the home button for either exiting an app it to wake up the phone and it doesn’t give any haptic feedback, followed by a complete respring of the phone. I have repeated it 3 times in the past 10 minutes alone, so it’s already super annoying.

It’s weird, it had seemed to resolve itself last night, was fine earlier this morning, then reappeared about 10 minutes ago.

Your haptic feedback mechanism might be dying or try to reset and set it up as new after backing up your data. Don’t restore from iTunes/iCloud backup. If issue persists, get your phone replaced.

So it's definitely seems to be something software related. Now when I lose the haptics, my phone gets extremely laggy and has no sounds like key presses, or music when I try to play it.

Everything that you've described is happening to me to. Please let me know if you find a fix for this - I have an Apple Genius bar appointment booked for Thursday so it will be an annoying couple of days to come.

Will do, same with you. So far I haven't heard anything, I did file a bug report and hoping I won't need to swap phone. Definitely seemed to start with 11.2, it has been just fine until this.

No respring, but, did have some lag/unresponsiveness at one point this morning on my phone wrt the home button. But rest of the day, no issues. Was working the phone one handed and that thumb recognition has been wonky, even with multiple re-programming of the print: button got "confused" with multiple repressing?

Same issue with 11.2 on my 8Plus... Also filed a bug report.

@teejay107 and @celestiny...I have no idea of if this is coincidence, or not, but this morning I did a reset all settings on my phone again, and it started working intermittently. So while it was working I went into music and started listening to it and it kept working. Ended up leaving music playing all day, with volume turned all the way down and it seemed to stay working all day. Again, no idea of related, but since I can plug it in at my desk I’m using it as a temp workaround until I get it fixed.

Morning update...I left the music app playing when I went to bed and put the phone on my wireless charging pad. When I woke up, the home button had no haptics, and the music app had stopped playing at some point in the middle of the night. I tried to restart the song, but it wouldn't play. I was able by a couple times of going in and out of music to get haptics back and get music playing again. Once I had music going, the haptics remained. I then left for work, but drove my other car which has Bluetooth audio capabilities. After getting in the truck, I saw the songs were still playing, but the haptics had stopped working and the Airplay icon showed Toyota Tacoma instead of iPhone. I switched it back to phone and it took about 15-20 seconds of spinning wheel before the change took. As soon as the change took, the haptics started working again. I have continued to leave music playing the rest of the morning, and I have experienced no further losses of haptics or crashes. I am becoming more convinced the sound and haptic loss are related in some way.

hi there,
I'm having the same exact issue with different symptoms now and then but mainly the loss of haptic and audio then slowly deteriorating to a system lag, i found there are many others complaining about the same issue to Apple (link below) but they seemingly had to return/replace the phone.

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8208504?page=1

was just checking if you've been any luckier and found any other solution?

Thats why there is 11.3, to fix bugs. update and report back pls

Thanks for your feedback though honestly I think it's not related. If you want to go down this route then originally Apple introduced a fix to a similar issue in 11.0.3 in iPhone 7 devices (not 8), nevertheless I was already on 11.0.3 when I bought the device and the problem existed. Later on (after all troubleshooting procedures of erasing all content, restoring, using as new phone, etc.) I updated to 11.2.6 (set-up as new phone not restoring from backup) but still the problem existed.

So why would you think that 11.3 will bring any improvement to this? Specially that nothing in its change log refers even distantly to fixing or dealing with such bug?

I am having the same on an 8+ with ios 11.3 since today. The symptoms are the same: no haptic feedback; no sound; reset/restore to no avail; random restarts when clicking the home button.

Sometimes it starts working again correctly, but just temporarily.

Some interesting facts:
It's not that you just can't hear the sound: the music is actually not being played, since the play cursor and the song time do not move.
Opening Garageband seems to help, not always though. Maybe it helps resetting the sound system (I am just trying to guess, here, I really have no clue).

Hints would be very welcome.

Well...doesn't seem to have any software solution to me. In the process of sending it to a store for a proper check

I don't like the haptic.

Got a 7 plus ni November and much prefer the home button on 6sPlus and before.
