Recently my new 2012 MBA 13 started going back to sleep about 3 seconds after i log in. It doesn't do it every time. It's maxed out on the processor and ram with 256gb harddrive.

    scenario:

    1) I open computer or if it's already open i tap a button for the login screen to appear

    2) I log in and start doing what i want

    3) As soon as i start doing something (usually within a couple of seconds) the screen goes black

    4) I then hit a button again and the login screen reappears as if i never logged in the first time.

    5) When i log back in the second time it stays logged in.

    6) i haven't noticed if it seems to do it more when the lid is shut or open. I would expect that either way it is in the same sleep mode.

any thoughts? TIA for any help.

doubt it has anything to do with it but my air will do the same thing when sitting on top of my old macbook pro. The magnet on the display of my mbp confuses the air into going back to sleep.
