    Random thought.
What if they released the updated 13/15” now to get them out of the way and used WWDC for an exclusive 16” MacBook launch. Thoughts?

Won't happen. Apple will stick to their 4 year cycle for MBP redesigns, so there won't be any really new models before 2020.

The only hardware I expect to see at WWDC is the fabled new Mac Pro.

I wouldn't count-out an announcement of a larger MBPro much the way they announced the MacPro nearly 2 years ago (basically just saying we're working on XYZ), but you certainly aren't going to see one released. If by some miracle they kept it secret and show one off, you can be assured that we won't be seeing or hearing about a MacPro. They aren't going to share stage time with two brand new major products like that.

My thinking is that if there were going to be any hardware announcements it would be for the Mac Pro, remember Apple basically promised we'd see the new Mac Pro in 2019, and time is ticking. Unlikely but remotely possible, any sort of mention of moving to the Ax platform. Apple provided a long roadmap to moving from PPC to Intel back in the day, and if they are in deed moving to ARM maybe they'll announce something. Its unlikely to be sure but I'll not be surprised if they do. With all that said, that's why I don't think they'll announce a 16" laptop :)

This would kill current high end MacBook Pro sales. There's no chance Apple makes an announcement like that.
With the Mac Pro, the product was obsolete already and was already, or was shortly thereafter, no longer allowed to be sold in the EU.

Mac Pro (and pro display) would be my guess as well. But then again, until two years ago Apple never "pre-announced" a product like they did with the Mac Pro.

And I don't see how a larger MBPro would kill current "high-end" MacBook Pro sales. If you want a large screen powerful laptop, you weren't going to buy the 13" model anyway. People in the market for the 27" iMac were never going to buy the 21" anyway.

I think we will see the Mac Pro and Apple's new Pro display "sneak peak", i don't think they will be released at WWDC tho.

IF and it's a big IF, they are going to release a new redesign of the Macbook Pro with 16" reduced bezels, it will be around October.

Mac users who need a powerful portable computer buy the 15" MBP (which was just updated last week) because there's no other option. Apple isn't going to announce an unavailable larger MBP next week and block all those users from buying 15" MBPs in the interim. This is what's known as the Osborne Effect: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osborne_effect

Agreed. I would say October at the earliest, however i do think it will be next year. I'm surprised that Ming Chi Kuo got it wrong, he is normally accurate.

    lets just think here.
Would you as a company release the 2019 pros now while everyone can go pick one up now in store, then 2 weeks after, release a brand new computer that more than likely will replace the 15" current model? Hell no you wouldn't. People would hate you for that and all return their 2019's they got 2 weeks ago.
Theres no redesign computer coming out this year. nope nope

    Very very unlikely.

Also unlikely for the October event - there just won't be any new mobile CPU and GPU that's gonna make the 16inch a more powerful machine compared to the 15 this year.

I think the 16inch is pretty much set for a 2020 release (if it is happening at all)

It would NOT kill high end MBP sales if the price for a 16" was much more, which it would be.....

for what reason though? better screen? how good the screen has to be to make the 16inch worth much much more with similar specs?

how much you want to bet they will drop the 15" model in favor of the 16" basically in the same form factor as the 15". I mean the 15's are already 15.4" I can see them going up an inch.
I do not see them raising up the price they'll just drop the 15" model in favor of the 16 imo.
Prices are already high and they haven't lowered them since 2016 I don't think. No way they will raise the 16" model over 2500 for a base model they won't do that.

I think it would be highly specked, and to get the 16" to fit in the current 15" would be a lot of work, time and money......

You better off just waiting for 2020 at this point... I mean there's simply no good option for GPUs if you wanna upgrade right now.. Even Vega 20 is outdated.

everyone has been saying no 16" at wwdc.. but what were we saying a week ago...…. and then out of the blue there are the 2019 MBP's.

We have NO clue what Apple plans and that was just shown not even 10 days ago.

People don't seem to understand that's why they announced it early to avoid speaking of a bloody refresh during the keynote.
