I'm having three major problems with 14.2 (18B92), all three have been going on since the first release of 14.

1. Keyboard lag. In the messaging app the keyboard take a long time before it finally picks up what I'm typing.

2. Very frequently I don't get any notifications from the text messaging app.

3. Often when I tap on the screen to wake up the phone the screen brightness is only at about 25%.
Maxing out the brightness slider still only gives me about 25% of the normal maximum brightness.
Only fix is to hit the power button and re-wake up the phone.

These issues happen all day every day for me. Especially 1 and 2. No. 3 happens about 5-10 times a day.
I'm using an iPhone XS-max.
Does anyone know of a fix for these issues?

I had the messaging notification issue and found what fixed it for me was to sign out of iCloud and then sign back in after a couple of minutes. As was pointed out to me tho this apparently messes up the wallet and causes that info to need to be reinstalled on the app. Don’t use wallet so wasn’t an issue. Also try a reboot if you haven’t already.

Doing that 100% fixed the notification issue for you? How long has it neb since you tried it?

Was maybe 3 weeks ago. To be clear, I was receiving messages but no sound and sometimes no badge so I was missing stuff unless I opened the app to check. Then one morning I woke up to a badge indicating a message only there was no message and the badge would not go away. Rebooted a few times, no help. So signed out then back in and it has been fine and working perfectly ever since. This on my SE 2020.

Thanks! Tried that now and I'll report back.

Unfortunately it didn’t work for me. Still missed a notification.

Keyboard lag - check Settings > Keyboards > Slow Keys and see if it is turned on. If so, click on it and see what it is set to. I have mine at 0.30 seconds. If yours is considerably more than this it could be the problem.

Screen brightness being too low when you tap on it - Seems like you have auto brightness set to on. Go to Settings > Display and text size and look at the auto brightness entry at the bottom. Turned mine off as it was very annoying to see what you are describing.

The lag he is talking about occurs when you first open a text or something. Sometimes I can type an entire sentence before anything actually shows up on the phone. Once the phone catches up it works as it should.

I know I am having the lag issue and I suspect I am having the second issue as well. Another one I am having is emails completely disappearing while I am looking at my inbox. Close it out and they all come back.

As to No. 2, the notifications not coming in. I think the notifications came back once I un-pinned everyone from the top of the texting app.
Not sure yet as I'm still testing this.
The keyboard lag is bad today though.
I have never before had any message app problems until the the changes they did with it when iOS 14 came out.
Amazing that a two trillion dollar company can't add a few very minor features and suddenly the product is unreliable.

Apparently the message notifications issue is widespread. I have the same issue. Hopefully a fix will be forthcoming.
