So after 14.5/14.5.1 battery on my iPhone 12 pro max is a joke but a sad one. I need to charge thru the day sometimes twice and I used to go thru a day and a half with the same usage…

On my 12 Pro my battery life gives me about 2-3 hours less on screen time now. Not really happy about that.

So what apps are using your battery the most (settings/battery)?

Keep in mind I do nothing more than usual

No issues here on my 12 Pro Max. I dont even look at charge status until bed time when I place it on my charger. Then I see that its pretty much as it always has been. It has been extremely good on all released versions so far.

based on iAppleBytes battery testing method, iOS 13.4.1 had the best battery recorded, luckily my iphone 12 Pro Max downgraded a couple days ago to 14.5 due Multicore throttling issues with 14.5.1 and battery drain.

I also had disappointing battery life on my 12PM on 14.5.1.

A week ago I installed 14.6 public beta 2 and the battery was pretty much back to normal, about 10 hours per charge.

Too early to say how 14.6 public beta 3 is on battery, but it's an "a" build and it's hard for me to imagine it's worse than beta 2. In all other respects, 14.6 betas have been running absolutely great on my 12PM, which is my daily driver. So I am comfortable recommending it to all but the most risk-averse iPhone users at this point.

I was curious about the testing methodology so had a wander over to this channel. Looks like they don’t account for battery age, so all other things being equal battery life will decrease over time anyway.

Not really sure if it's 14.5.1 related but i recently encountered a really strange behaviour on my 12 mini - the battery got drained from full to empty in 6-7 hrs, but what is really strange there was almost no on screen or even background activity during that time. It was a few days ago and hasn't happened again since.

We don’t know :

- your use case,
- if the apps you use are optimised,
- if your use increased
- battery capacity pre and post update,
- background usage on apps,
- signal strength,
- signal quality,
- maybe few more things.

Updating to 14.6 RC via IPSW fixed my battery life issues.
If I ”update” via IPSW to the iOS version that’s already installed (download IPSW, hold option and hit update), it doesn’t wipe the phone right? If so, I’m thinking about giving this a try to see if it resolves my issue with Safari causing my phone to get hot and crushing the battery…started in 14.5, and still can’t shake it in 14.6 RC 2.

My iPhone 11 pros battery has also nose dived after 14.5.1. I think some people are lucky, or refuse to admit the problem. I’ve forty percent left after having the phone off charge for five hours. I used to finish the day with 60-50% left.

I have the same issue on my iPhone 11. The phone never goes to deep sleep and keeps consuming a lot of power when unused.

It does not happen in airplane mode and the largest background power consumer is Find My so I'm kinda suspecting it may be an AirTag related but since I updated to 14.5 and set up my AirTags just before noticing the issue.

Hopefully 14.6 will fix it.

14.6 is out for a week. What are you waiting for?
