Well that 14 year old can go and kiss goodbye to any chance of having a normal life now. His parents must be so proud.

Really sad story. Googled her name when I saw a mention, read an article, and then a couple links down was her Twitter account. She seemed to really enjoy teaching math, so not only was a life lost, but a potentially great teacher.

What price are you referring to?

Did you just jump to the conclusion that this was firearm related, because that is your cause du jour?

I read the referenced articles, and they only mentioned blood being found... no cause of death.

Maybe she was stabbed with a cocktail fork.

Why would a 14 year old kill a teacher?

How did the boy even drag the body into the woods unless the teacher went into the woods and the boy then sneaked up on her. Either way, its truly a tragedy.

After we get the guns under control we can go after the knives next.

    Waitaminnit. We can multitask.

We can go after both the guns and knives at the same time.

    Somewhat.

It seems like the natural progression.

First you get people to shoot each other less.

The you try to get people to stab each other less.

    At least you try.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ötzi

The last I read in Smithsonian they (the scientific community) believes he was shot. If Ötzi at 5300 years old was killed I don't think we are going to stop it now.

"First detected by X-ray in 2001, the severity of the injury it caused had been debated – but a full CT (computed tomography) scan of the mummy has now confirmed that the arrowhead tore through a major artery. The experts say this would have led to internal bleeding and a rapid, shock-related cardiac arrest."

Something very wrong with that kid.

Caught a serial killer before he became a new Ted Bundy?

You're probably right but I tend to hope slavery was learnt where killing is survival especially in Ötze's time frame.

If only that boxknife had a requirement for a background check and registration first, it could have been kept out of his criminal hands. Unless, of course, someone instead left it in a toolbox instead of locking it securely in a safe, in which case we can blame them as well.

    /sarcasm :p

If this kid had had a gun he would have been able to kill far more than one person…

Did we have any indication he had more than one target?

No, but that won't stop the anti-gun crowd.

The "pro-gun crowd" already derailed the thread in post 16 with a terrible gun post.

No, I think it was citizenzen in post #3, who derailed this. Clearly he was thinking that the teacher was killed with a gun without having any knowledge to support the claim.

    It's true.

I leapt to an assumption I should not have made.

I was wrong to have done so.

The teacher asked the student to stay after school so she could help him with math. He killed her in the faculty restroom, stuffed her in a cart, and wheeled her out to the wooded area behind the school.

What I don't get is, this happened at 3:30 PM. There had to be other people in the building. Didn't anyone notice/hear anything?
