Here is the screenshot from the iStat Menus app that depicts when the internal battery of the recently released 16-inch MacBook Pro was manufactured:

As you can see, it lists 9/20/19 as when this battery was supposedly made. Does this mean, that this laptop was manufactured on the same date and that Apple was stockpiling these laptop since 9/20/19 or close to this date, since that time?

Inferring from this, could this mean, that this laptop could've been released in Oct, as many analysts were predicting as well?

Just to prove that this isn't a joke, here are the specs of my machine:

I work with manufactures in Asia. You’re forgetting transit time. The battery was likely manufactured at least a few days prior to assembly. Let’s say a week. That’s 9/27/19 manufacture date. Let’s say apple ship them within a week to the states. That’s say 10/4/19. Ocean freight is at least three weeks from Asia. That’s 10/25/19 arrival at port. Typically it takes a week to reach as distribution center, so that’s 11/02/19. That’s two weeks ago.

Edit to add that customs, especially on a high value shipment, could take anywhere from 2-7 days to clear the container.

First I’ve even heard of Apple using ocean freight.

it means apple had already stockpiling 16inch macbook pro since sep 20. probably even months before that

no, it doesnt mean that.

it means exactly what it means, that the battery was produced 9/20/19. nothing more nothing less.

the battery is not made by apple, so of course the battery needs to be produced before the computer is made, so it can then be shipped to apple for assembly in a computer on a date after 9/20.

is this really not obvious? your computer isnt a jiffy cake that magically appears out of an oven from its raw materials in one day. parts are made, aggregated, and computers are assembled after the parts are manufactured, shipped to apple, and received. parts of course need to be ordered and manufactured well in advance of product release.

You're overthinking it. Doesn't mean anything. Nothing to lose sleep over.

Most products are shipped by ocean. iPhone is an exception. Computers are too big and heavy to ship by plane.

Logistically it makes more sense to ocean freight and ship out of Apple's domestic dist. centers.

Well every Apple computer I have ordered BTO has always come from China and by plane, like my one shipping now.

Maybe not for consumer direct shipments. Anything they stock, I would assume must come by ocean. Otherwise, I'm starting to understand the retail prices. lol
