Before you all attack me for being a homophobic bigot, please read the rest of the thread :D

I found this and thought I'd post it up for laughs, a bit break from the usual stuff in the PRSI forum (although I have a feeling this thread will turn into the usual stuff ;))

I've seen an older version of that a while back (I don't think it had the Britney Spears reference), but its still great.

    I don't understand.

Must be b/c I'm from MA and now live in NH.

Are people truly that dumb to HONESTLY believe any of those statements?

Well, at least when you come home and find your husband wearing your clothes ... you won't be immediately hiring a divorce attorney.

    :D

Anyway, what would be easier in ending the marriage issue? Allowing all to marry or denying any state and federal recognition? As of late I am leaning towards denying.

I don't understand why we should ask the state for permission to marry in the 1st place. Think about it.

It's a funny, sarcastic list that's only in PRSI because of what it's about. It's not meant to start any sort of discussion or be serious in any way

I don't know if anyone believes them, but they are used in the argument against it.

I can post 1: so they can have the same legal rights the rest of us do, and be able to be treated the same as any straight couple.

To get the legal rights they provide.

because it will usher in the era that will give my horse legal standing, and finally allow us to wed.

Because horses are consenting adults capable of making legal decisions about themselves, didn't you read #3? :p

I don't even see how it's still an issue. It's fairly basic.

Why should one group of Americans be excluded from literally the eact same rights as another group? It's just like denying African Americans, or women for that matter, the right to vote.

I'm a straight American. I get the right. Why doesn't my gay neighbor? He's American, just like me.

I don't see the whole big deal. Being gay married doesn't feel any different to gay co-habiting.

You do get to wear a nice wedding ring though, even if you do end up scratching it by being left-handed and doing stuff like motorbike maintenance whilst wearing it

hah, i'm curious of what a world would be like if married men were walking around with big gaudy engagement rings would be like.

it's always been such a womanly thing to do. this is sure going to be a fun era to be part of.

That's one for obeygiant's Plus List. Gay men at least don't have to worry about that "two or three month's salary" issue :)

However, it does beg the question just how much Lesbians have to spend!!

I can think of one simple reason, the poor vicar. At least in a 'normal' wedding he knows who is who. In a gay wedding he could easily get the names mixed up.

Joking aside, this happened at my friends wedding (sorry, civil partnership) she called Jeremy, Jonathan and Jonathan, Jeremy. Still was pretty funny at the time.

CPs are still weddings, they just can't be marriages apparently

Unless you get your UK CP legalised as a Spanish marriage of course ;)

Wedding, Civil partnerships or marriage... Who cares what they are called, I'm just glad that they are legal in the UK.

I have a point to bring up that has nothing to do with gay marriage...

Foster care exists, mainly to provide a temporary home for children that are removed from their families while the families try to get their act together to get their children back. The majority of foster children I see return to their biological parents (though they often come back into foster care at a later date). Also the majority of foster parents adopt their foster children once the parental rights are terminated. The children that are left in foster care are mainly older children, large sibling groups, and disabled children. There are very few healthy young children in america available for adoption that need homes.

There is a large need for foster parents though.
