Opinion question: I'm in a position where I can pay an outsized deductible ($175) to replace a Samsung GS5 with the same, or I can (thanks to some help) just pay the last bit of money on the outstanding phone balance and upgrade to an iPhone 6s Plus.

However, I really won't be able to go for a 64GB model (at least, not for another month... and I can't be without a phone for a month unfortunately).

I'm sure I will be fine for a couple months with the 16GB, but I was looking at the Mophie Space Pack and that looks like a good compromise, since I get extended battery life PLUS the storage.

Does this seem like a reasonable solution until I'm able to maybe upgrade to a 7 sometime down the road?

Opinion Answer: The Space Back is not going to be a real substitute for a 64GB phone. It's not an extension to local phone storage but a supplemental siloed storage area. Native iOS apps can't see/used this Storage area. It also adds a lot of weight to the phone.

Really try hard to wait just that 30 days for a 64GB iPhone 6S Plus. It's so worth it above the 16GB model.

What are you spending in the space pack? As far as I can tell, that's going to run you more than the 64gb upgrade.

The above poster is right. It's not storage available to the OS. It's essentially available through an app. This not necessarily a bad thing if what you store on your phone is media. It's probably actually a nicer.ootuin than syncing songs and movies through iTunes(I hate iTunes and avoid it as best I can). You won't be able to use that space for apps or really any other iOS specific tasks though.

Of course there is also the benefit of the extended battery with the space pack. Whether that is worth consideration or not is of course up to you.

Waste of money. Just buy a 64 GB iPhone or any other phone that has plenty of storage.

Do you mean that you're going to spend a couple months with the 16GB but without the Space Pack? Because in that case, then sure, maybe that's the best you can do. Though the Space Pack isn't very useful if you don't plan to manually place a lot of music, video, photos, or documents in there. You can't use the Space Pack storage for apps.

If you're going to buy the Space Pack at the same time as the new phone, then I don't see how that makes sense considering the Space Pack costs $50 more than you getting the 64GB 6s Plus.

If you're planning to get the 7 eventually anyway, maybe consider a 64GB iPhone 6s? That'll run you the same cost as the 16GB 6s Plus.
