Hi,

i've checked out the information page on this machine, but am still a bit unclear - can you connect another monitor to this machine with the onboard graphics card?

also, will it automatically detect the other monitor and begin displaying information immediately or do you have to go into display preferences on the imac first?

Cheers,
Keebler

Yes it'll handle a second dsiplay with the appropriate adapter and by default will span the desktop over to the second display. Display preferences are only necessary if you want to enable mirroring.

Typed from my 17" with a 40" Samsung HDTV as my secondary monitor.

yes, you can connect another display using the onboard x1600. I believe it will automatically detect the new display, but it might be in "mirrored" mode, rather than split-screen, by default. So you'd need to go in to display prefs to change that.

edit: darn, beaten to it. Ok, I guess spanning is the default and mirroring is the one you have to turn on.
