As in the media hasn't whipped its lemmings in to line on this one...?? or they haven't yet published a picture of this 17 year old in his 8th grade football uniform...

That's outrageous that he got off scot-free for killing those two innocent people.

Oh. Wait. He was sentenced to life in prison.

    So what is your point?

Anyone who read the article (or has been able to follow the case, as I have, living in FL) would never draw parallels between this case and the Sanford case. And if your point was that there was no uproar from the media, or any civil rights, or ethnic group, you failed with the analogy.

Exactly- he got what he deserved. How does this compare to someone who didn't?

The defendant should have testified that he feared for his life and was standing his ground.

I'm offended that I'll be paying to feed this guy in prison for the rest of his life. He should be on death row right now.

I'm happy to pay for life in prison.

I hope in the days he has left he finds a way to become a better person.

It would cost you more to have him on death row. That's a pretty well known fact.

I suspect that for him cost really isn't the issue.

I know it isn't for me.

That's what "they" say. I would love to see a modern Florida statistic to back that up. I'll bet it's cheaper to execute when you start with someone as young as this.

Right now you aren't paying for him.

If he is never tried or sent to prison why would you have to pay for him?

Your post confuses me. He is in prison in Florida for the rest of his life and I'm a taxpayer in Florida for the rest of my life. Right now I am paying to feed him (along with all the rest of Florida's taxpayers) and my attitude is the shorter amount of time I do that, the better.

Is Zimmerman in jail right now?

If he is is very recent. Last I heard he wasn't in jail. So right now you and other floridians are not paying to feed, cloth, house and care for him.

This thread isn't about Zimmerman. Read the OP. ;)

Perhaps not, but it does serve to highlight the contrasting way that our media treats various types of crime. Minority-on-minority crime, even minority-on-white crime, is considered par for the course. White-on-black crime, however, is sufficiently uncommon that the media powers that be think it warrants extra attention.

If Zimmerman would've been arrested and charged like he should have, then no one outside of Sanford would even know who Zimmerman and Martin are.
