iPod 1st gen iPod (mac only) and usage w/ windows itunes

I have a 1st gen iPod 5 gig (original mac only version) and I want to give to a family member with a PC. Will it work with a PC with Firewire and itunes without any 3rd party enabler software. Will running the windows version of the ipod updater software make it work with a PC?
