People with guns and grudges ... it's inevitable.

Despite being desensitized to a lot of the news lately, I still found this very disturbing. At least the authorities seem to have figured out who the shooter is and are after him.

Because there are people with guns in this world, it is inevitable that someone will murder a reporter and cameraman live on the air in Virginia.

Really? Do tell us more about the inevitabilities of "people with guns."

You seem to have insight into inevitabilities not possessed by the rest of us.

No need to be envious - you can buy your own, you know.

Sure, we as a society by celebrating and encouraging widespread and common gun ownership have to accept these kind of incidents as unfortunate but well worth the principle. But don't dwell on the negative, focus on the positive! :)

If we as a society celebrated and encouraged murder, you might have a point.

Looks like they are chasing the guy now, and early reports are saying it is/was a disgruntled ex-employee.

Ah. So your comment wasn't actually about this being an inevitable event - the on-air murder of a reporter and a cameraman in Virginia.

Rather, your comment was more of a this-is-the-next-gun-story-I-can-make-my-general-sweeping-comment-about-"society"-and-guns.

Look forward to your next Society Is Bad comment in the next "gun" thread, independent of the actual event.

EDIT: If you are going to keep changing your original quote to something you believe to be more palatable to The Regulars around here, please let us know when you are finished.

In that case, I would say we as a society who celebrate and encourage gun ownership place the blame for incidents such as these where it belongs: on the criminal, and not on his tools.

Criminals (not really as this was more about revenge by a otherwise/before law abiding citizen) will use the tools easily available to them.

In other countries he may have used a knive or could have thrown something at the reporter making a lethal outcome less likely (even if that was still his intent).

    Reposted from Current Events ...

Latest figures (2013) show 30.7 people murdered on average every day in America with firearms.

In the case of these two, we're unfortunate enough to have it recorded for all to see.

But it's just a fraction of the violence we've chosen to accept in the U.S.A.

Simple fact: This tool makes it convienent to commit multiple murders in a matter of seconds. Why don't you guys just allow me to make my accurate observations without the kneejerk need to defend guns? Just say, yes you are right about this. Let's see how long it takes them to catch or kill the perp.

I don't speak for others, but I for one was not defending guns.

Rather, I was casting a light on your asinine post.

Just say, yes, it's the price we've chosen to accept.

Get used to it. It's not changing any time soon.

Right, thank you. Wide spread gun ownership by mentally unstable individuals, especially the ones we don't know about until they act out, allows them to easily kill multiple people. How asinine of me to point this out. My apologies.

It was only 2 adults that were shot so there won't be any thoughts on tightening gun control.

Ah! Your original quotes continue to morph! Now we are talking about (1) mentally unstable people (2) who show no signs of violence (3) until they kill multiple people (4) with a gun.

But but but what happened to "society" and "people with guns"?

Give us a shout when you settle on what you think you really might mean until the next re-shaping of what you now wish you could change.
