well since theres so many threads about cars popping up... i
figured i would add one of my own... i hope to replace my '98
accord this summer... yeah i know its not a range rover... and
i cant afford to replace it with a BMW... but i do figure that i
could replace it with something along the lines of an RSX, a
toyota PRIUS or celica, maybe a current accord...

i would like the prius for the fuel economy... plus i actually
think it looks kinda cool... theres supposed to be a spoiler
option [maybe there already is] sometime this spring... but
    no sunroof... shoot...

i love my accord... so why not get another one... the new body
style is friggin sweet... but ive been driving one for over three
    years already...

im very happy with my honda... so why not get a little wanky
and bump up to the acura... realistically the only one i could
afford would be the RSX... which conveniently enough is the one
    i would want...

very much like the macrumors... the acura rumors point to
a big update to the RSX for the 2005 model year... the only
picture people point to is arguably a photoshop and there
are no specs... this is supposed to happen in july...

i know some of you are more into this sort of thing than
i am... so anyone got any info??? im not asking if i should
wait or buy a used one or blah blah... just if anyone has
    heard anything about the 2005...

    im in the u.s... btw...

So Acura's are a step up from Honda's??? I thought they were one and the same???

I'm presuming the new U.S. Accord is the same as the euro spec model (Alfa Romeo 156 inspired), must say, I think they're pretty dandy, especially in 2.2TDi form, and they're a totally different platform from the previous gen, so you won't feel short changed. ;)

I've just had a tommy gander at the RSX.. hmmm, can't say I think much of it... are Nissan Z's in the same price bracket?? or the lo-tune Audi TT 150??

What about a 2005 Mustang?? they look pretty handy too. :)

acura is honda's "luxury" model... my uncle just got a TL and he loves
it... i think the RSX is sweet... but its ok if you dont like it...

id rather hook up my lawnmower to my skateboard than drive a ford
so the mustang is out... plus we have a lot of snow here so the
mustang would only be good half the year...

the nissan z and audi tt are just out of reach... the tt is thirty three
grand... i just cant manage that... i do agree it is a hot car though...

ho hum... dont get me wrong... i love the accord... but i love my accord
too... i just want something different... plus my accord is the V6... id rather
get the speedy four cylinder the RSX has to offer...

man ive got to learn to drive a stick shift...

i think it could be fun... but probably not in the winter... if i were to
give up the stick shift i would put myself out of getting a type S... which
would save me some cash... but making it look like a type R would jack
    the cost right back up...

and i want that dual 3gig G5 that will never see the light of day... j/k

only the 200hp rsx type s has the stick shift. the others have automatic. but i think acura is getting away from the type s. they dropped the type s on the tl, made the type s the new tl and made the low end tl the new accord. they used to have a type s cl, but they discontinued it. i know all you care about is the new rsx, but you may want to take a look at a used 2003 or 2003 type s TL. we had a brand new rsx priced out but bought a used TL type s in perfect condition.

I have the 2002 RSX and you CAN get it in a manual if you dont get the Type S....i LOVE my rsx! I have the Eternal Blue Pearl 5 speed with cloth...

the TL is definately a nice car... but im really against the four door...
although i love the size of my accord... but with the V6 gas is getting
out of hand at 2.15 or so a gallon... i read
that about the phase out of the type S... which would be just fine for me...
then i wouldnt have to decided to cripple my car to save the cash...

the automatic starts at just under 21... i dont care about leather... in fact i
would rather not have it... i would assume that the '05's would have similiar
price points... unless they go under a massive overhaul i have no problem
trying to hunt down an '02 or '03... our local dealer has a few '02's for
around 18 which isnt too bad at all...

im waiting to see what they unveil [hopefully] this summer... if its not a
radical change perhaps id be able to get a good deal on a closeout...
except it seems like acura is trying to clear them out already with good
lease options... im not really interested in a lease though...

the RSX Type-S is nice two of my friends have them. I would like to purchase an Audi S-4, but since the price line is way out of my budget; i think i will have to pass on that one at least.

However i recently herd of Scion its a, Acura to Honda, brand of Toyota. I also found out that they are releasing a new third car (they originally started with only two, both of which are ugly) called the tC. It looks sweet and starts at $16,465, and everthing that you could possibly want is Standard.

    The Scion tC

    I like the Panorama Sunroofs.

There are no Audi TT 150's in America iGav, and the Mustang still has a solid rear axle (ugh!). As for diesels - in California diesel's more expensive than regular petrol (gas - in the UK diesel's markedly cheaper than gas US readers making cars with diesel engines a bargain).

The Z's a great car though - but more expensive than an RSX. What about a fully loaded Mini, a Golf C32 or a Pontiac GTO?

For 4 doors, 8.7 inches of ground clearance and 0-60 in 5.9 you could get a Subaru Outback or my personal $30K choice a Subaru WRX STi or Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII.

IIRC, California diesel still doesn't have a low sulphur content, and because of that, TDI, and such aren't sold here in CA (that might have changed since i've looked for a car). I've also heard from a friend who works at on of the refineries in the So Bay that it's not as profitable as regular gas, they've switched a few refineries from diesel to regular gas. diesel used to be cheap $1.50 last year, now, it's the same as regular gas.

I think the Acura TSX and RSXs and nice. Also VW Jetta and passats are nice, although i think passats are a bit over priced. My Uncle has a 96 deisel passat and it very loud. I don't know what the newer ones are like. The volvo S40 looks nice too, 25k+ (high repair fees though).

honda/acura cars are ok, but i despise most of them due to the fact that most (or almost all of them except the NSX and S2000) are FWD. I just wish these car companies would go back to making all their cars RWD, like BMW (besides the mini cooper), Benz, or Lexus.

Isnt pushing better than pulling anyway?

I also heard that Scion was a branch of Toyota, but that doesn't go to say that it's the luxury. Here are the Japanese companies and relations:

    Luxury <-> Basic

    Acura <-> Honda
    Toyota <-> Lexus
    Mitsubishi <-> Infiniti

On topic, I think that honda did a really good job on the new RSX, especially the type-s. The remodel over the Integra was great. They gained in performance, and IMO, looks. If you can afford it, I'd get the type-s, and if you have even more money you want to spend, just get their performance pack too (do they still offer comptech superchargers on their cars?).

During the famous split when Lamborghini left Ferrari.. Lamborghini said "You don't have horses pushing the carriage"

Then again, both companies now only do engines seated mid-body and are RWD (and Lambo is owned by VW AG and Ferrari is owned by Fiat SPA)

I can't make heads or tails of your listing! (but I do know since it isn't consistent it is most definitely wrong.)

    The correct listing is:

    Basic/Parent; Luxury
    Honda; Acura
    Toyota; Lexus
    Nissan; Infiniti

As for Scion, it's a branch of Toyota but not a luxury brand. It is their "Gen X" brand; Toyota is trying to create a new market segment-- high-tech, low-cost, catering to a younger market that is just starting to buy cars.

The Acura RSX has very bland looks, probably drives well, and is probably reliable, as it's from Honda. I'd probably buy an RSX too if I had the money, but lets face it, the car has a very safe, boring style. I wouldn't get any car that wasn't reliable. I'm very lazy, and I really do believe that I wouldn't bring my car to a mechanic if I thought something was wrong. It would probably have to be unbearable for me to bring it back to the manufacturer, even if its still under warranty.

The Prius would be a gutsy car to get. I really don't know much about it with regards to reliability, performance, or highway driving. I can't even tell you if driving long distances, and going on long camping trips is optional. Sounds ignorant, but I don't know much about cars, let alone hybrids.

And since Acura brought out the current RSX model recently, I really don't think they're going to do anything, like revamp the inside and outside entirely. They won't. The most they'll do is add another model in their line-up, or update an engine or something. Either way, you're getting a sweet car.

@iGAV: The Accord in the UK is different than the one in North America, or at least it was 2 years ago. Don't know about the newest models.

And does anybody know the specs of the Scion? I really hate that website, and couldn't find anything on the specs (Power in hp or kW, torque, fuel consumption, etc)

i saw the commercial for the scion and immediately went to the web
to check it out... the tC comes out in june and even with an automatic
is like 17K... not bad at all... plus it is pretty sweet... i was originally
going to put it in the list in my original quote but opted out...

i heard that there wont be a 2005 celica because the tC fills that market
segment... this kinda eliminates another of my prospects... i really like
the celica... kinda looks like an RSX... maybe a little more slick and
stylish especially with the action pack...

prius' are damn near impossible to get... i would love to drive one... i
couldnt even imagine how great it would be to get that kind of fuel
economy... if honda wouldve released a 2 door hybrid civic i wouldve
    even considered that...

to the poster concerned about the environment... please understand im
trying to decide on a car that will use less gas... im not into bloated SUV's..
i just want a nice four cylinder [or in the prius' case hybrid] sporty car
that wont cost me an arm and a leg... i think the RSX is a great choice...

front wheel drive actually comes in handy in the winter time... a lot of
people i know have no interest in BMW's because they are rear wheel
drive... ive only owned one rear wheel drive car... my first car... some
ridiculous boat from the seventies... i think i actually used it for about two

    does anyone have a prius???
