+1 or This or whatever the cool thing to say is.

No ***** biting in hockey. what the f was that?

And - feh to the results.

As a Canucks fan, I'm ashamed of the Burrows bite. At first I was embarrassed for both Burrows and Bergeron for their "confrontation" after the period was over.. little mini face jabs with the gloves on... please, if you're going to do something, do something. Then I was just ashamed of what Burrows did.

But selling penalties by jerking the head back, going down easy, etc. was pretty even tonight.

I think the ref'ing was reasonably fair. Chara definitely took at least one of the high sticks given he was bleeding after. In general it was a decent game. The PP for both sides sucked though the B's took the award for sucking the most.

Also, whoever complained about the Bruins' bruising style of hockey, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the flopping, biting, cheap-shotting Canucks thus far.

I don't think anyone complained about the Bruins' bruising style of hockey. I think people complained about their cheap-shots and dirty, dangerous hits.

I like tough, bruising hockey. No one complained about that.

About the Burrows bite: I have little doubt he'll be suspended for the next game. There's no place for biting in the Game (duh).

From tsn.ca:
The replay showed Burrows with Bergeron's finger in his mouth as the two got tangled up behind the Bruins net, with Racicot in between the two players.

Bergeron said that he asked Racicot why he wasn't calling a penalty, and that Racicot responded by saying that Bergeron had put his finger in Burrow's mouth.

Burrows denied that he bit Bergeron.

If you watch the video, it actually does appear that Bergeron reached up and stuck his finger in Burrows' mouth and then pulled down. If he pulled hard enough, it could cut his soggy, sweaty finger (think of how soft your skin is after a long shower). It really does look that way. I'm not saying that was Bergeron's plan, but in the process of trying to facewash Burrows, his finger clearly went into his mouth. It's not like Bergeron's hand was sitting there, and Burrows opened his mouth and went out of his way to bite it. It may have been reflex that caused Burrows to chomp down.

I'm not defending Burrows, I'm just saying that this is actually a plausible explanation.

See for yourselves:
(excuse the music and Ace Ventura ending....I just liked the close up video):p

Again, before I get flamed, I'm just posting this as a possibility. It's more likely than not that Burrows will be suspended. I am not advocating biting in hockey (duh). If it was a Bruins player than bit a Canucks player, and the video looked exactly the same, I'd be saying the same thing.

Did he get a double-minor for that:rolleyes: Don't know how you could defend him:eek: That's just chicken ****;)

Maybe you missed the part where I said: "I'm not defending Burrows, I'm just saying that this is actually a plausible explanation."

;)

Did you watch the video I posted? Does it not at least look like Bergeron reached up with his fingers and stuck them in Burrows' mouth?

^^^^Yeah, I was listening to TSN radio earlier, and they said that Bob MacKenzie didn't think he'd be suspended. I'm sure the Bruins will go after him hard next game.....which might cause them to lose focus on the game.

yep - that is definitely a worry. Need to stay out of the box as well. Avoided a bullet last game.

I learned at a very young age that if I stick my finger in someones mouth, it could get bit. What, you pay a guy $5Mil/yr and now he's no longer responsible for where he sticks his fingers?

"After reviewing the incident, including speaking with the on-ice officials, I can find no conclusive evidence that Alex Burrows intentionally bit the finger of Patrice Bergeron."

I agree with that.

Looks like Brad Richards is going to be a UFA as of July 1st (unless the Stars trade his rights prior to that). The Leafs will go after him hard. He's the #1 center that Burke is looking for, and we have the cap space.

He'd be a great fit for the Flyer's to replace the other Richard's as caption:rolleyes: Not going to happen...:(

Let me get this straight- breaking someone's neck is OK, but the minute a finger gets bitten, all hell breaks loose? I'm sorry, I'm having trouble believing what I'm hearing.

Eww..scary stuff, that finger biting. Is he in the hospital? Do they think he'll ever walk again? Jesus. Amazing.

Hey Bruins- karma's a bitch. And I'd say she was treating you pretty lightly with this one. I wouldn't complain.

Yeah, I do too. There's no possible way to know.

What?!? A reasonable Bruins fan?!?:eek::p

I certainly know why that is.. I'm hoping we have $4.5M more next year too..

I'm sure Kabs will have one good game, which will cause you guys/your GM to forget about all the inconsistency, and then you'll re-sign him.:D

Yeah, well, you guys have the highest payroll in the league with only $430,845 of cap space left for 2011-2012. Interesting.....the next team with the least amount of cap space is the Flames, with $3,584,166 of space available. That's a pretty big range between #1 and #2. I wouldn't expect the Flyers to sign anyone on July 1. :p

In contrast, the Leafs have $21,210,000 of cap space available.

Lee, you know I respect you a lot but I think you are off-base -- though I got a chuckle out of this. No one can watch a couple of Bruins games and know what the team is all about. This is decades of hockey played rough and tumble style like it has always been here and in the original six.

There's precedent in suspending someone for biting but, though I think he did it, it is very difficult to conclusively tell.
(in the early days biting wasn't a problem because no one had teeth!!)

The guy that made the call on the biting incident, Mike Murphy, also made the call on the Pacioretty. And again, how can anyone conclusively say that Chara was out to intentionally hurt him in that game.

This is accident vs intention. If they had proven that the bite was for real there is no question in my mind that he would have been suspended (I don't think you accidentally bite someone, but what do I know). Same with Chara -- it's all about intention.

Crap, did I come off that way -- I certainly didn't mean to - FU! :p

I just say this to myself -- hope is not a strategy. Burn the contract, move on, even give Kampfer ice time at this point. (At least that will give us 2 Americans on the team ) -- how I love when the ignorant fans in the Garden chant "U-S-A" when the Canadiens are in town... they have more Americans on the team than we do!

I don't know how you come up with this stuff but it always welcomed -- nothing like learning from your buds. Thanks.

Maybe I'm just all jacked up -- big trip tomorrow and then the game tomorrow night. Who knows...

I think it was more than accident vs. intention in this case. I think they watched the video, and it sort of appears that Bergeron reached into Burrows' mouth. I think they realized that it is possible that Bergeron cut his finger on Burrows' teeth when he pulled down. I think that these reasons also contributed to the inconclusive finding.

People only care about the origin of the player when he F's up. "Oh, he cowered away from that fight. What a *********** European." :p

Hope your trip goes smoothly for you (but not the game:D).

BTW, as of yesterday at 4:30 pm CST, the Winnipeg <insert name here> have sold 4,170 season tickets. They haven't even opened the sales up to the general public yet (that happens tomorrow). These sales have been to existing season ticket holders of the Manitoba Moose.

I think they'll fulfill the 13,000 by Monday or Tuesday at this pace!

Not my point at all. My point is that you guys were right there with Chara when he broke someone's neck (intentionally or not), but when somebody's finger gets bitten (intentionally or not)- OMG! The sky is falling! Pretty silly, ya gotta admit. Both were bad moments, one absolutely terrible.

It's the reaction to this last one that I find amusing, especially given the severity of the first.

ok, fair enough and I see your point. I think I've tried to present a reasonable view on both incidents (even saying that I didn't think a suspension was in order on the [alleged] biting. Again, I attempt to look at this stuff trying to understand the intention.

Anyway, thanks Lee. That's why you remain a fave --

EDIT: I still say there's no biting in hockey -- regardless of who is doing the chomping.

You have been reasonable, many others have not though. ;)

How about no biting and no neck breaking? ;) Speaking as a goalie though, give me cuts and bruises. I like them- I think we all do. Fair enough? :D

Who is running this league? A bunch of children with no business experience or ethics?

An Ontario judge has tossed out the National Hockey League’s “monster” $375-million North American sponsorship deal with Molson-Coors, saying the league already had a Canadian agreement with the company’s archrival Labatt.

The decision Friday by Ontario Superior Court Justice Frank Newbould to toss out the biggest sponsorship deal in NHL history comes as the league is in the midst of the Stanley Cup final between the Vancouver Canucks and Boston Bruins.

The judge said that Molson-Coors suspected that the league had already reached a deal with Labatt when it decided to negotiate its own agreement. Molson-Coors and the NHL reached a seven-year deal for North American sponsorship rights in February. The judge ruled the NHL had already agreed in November to have Labatt as Canadian sponsor.

Bettman's salary must be commensurate with the amount of money he can scrape-up in the name of the NHL.

And this fresh on the heals of the Winnipeg fiasco.

Of course they sold 4,000+ season tickets quickly to Moose fans. They were Moose fans because they were starved for hockey, any hockey. The remaining 9,000 will NOT be sold in 'just a few days', IMO.

They're at 7,158 right now.

General sale to the public begins today at noon.

I stand by my prediction of reaching their goal by Monday or Tuesday.

I wouldn't call the Winnipeg return a fiasco. It has allowed them to heal as a city, no?:D

Damn, you captured my typo, for all eternity to see.

I was just > < much too slow.

It is not the return that is a fiasco, far from it.

It is holding a city ransom, as Bettman is doing. What a knob.

I am proud of that.

I don't see it that way. I see it as a way of having the city prove that they really want the team. The new owners have proved it by paying the NHL and the Thrashers owners, now the people of Winnipeg have to prove it by putting their money in as well.

I noticed no comment on the updated ticket sales, eh?:D
