My mid 2011 macbook air has just died. It’s a vintage product and apple can’t fix it. Per my research and their techs, the ram on the logic board is fried. They’re fairly certain the logic board is also done.

Given that my macbook air is outdated, they’ve referred me to an authorized reseller. Now they said recovering the data from the ssd should be pretty simple IF my SSD isn’t damaged. Which I don’t think it is.

It can be pretty costly so i’m trying to gauge if it’s worth it to do it myself. All I want to do is recover my data.
I know I could buy the tools to open up my MBA for relatively cheap. Does anyone have experience in transferring data from an ssd to an external HD?

I’ve been looking around for hours to no avail. All I’ve gathered is that I need to buy an ssd enclosure for the ssd module itself. I’m not sure how i’d transfer the data from there.

Apple said they’d only transfer the data If i were to buy a new computer, and that, for liability reasons.

Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.
