After a few days with Mojave on my 2012 Mac Mini ( 2.6 / 16gb/ 2tb ) I think I'm going to have to reinstall High Sierra either from an old backup or a new USB bootable installer and wait for a more stable release . The problem is that at boot up the Apple logo screen freezes . On initial installation of Mojave setup appeared fine but on next use it refused to finish start up and has stayed that way . I have tried a variety of start up tactics ) Shift / Option / CMD+R ) and am in the middle of a Hardware Check ( everything green so far )

After the last reinstall of Mojave I updated many apps , crossed fingers and clicked Restart and prayed , but never made it past the Apple Logo again .

Its really annoying . Anyone else having much luck with late 2012 Mini ?

I was able to install Mojave an on external SSD drive. My internal drive has Sierra.
As you see below, it's on a 2012 MacMini.

On my late 2012 mini, Mojave works slower than 10.13.5 but without problem. I have two disks on my mini, one with 10.3.5 and the other with Mojave betas.

What kind of disks (internal/external, hdd/ssd) do you have for each of HS and Mojave? For me I have Sierra on an internal HDD, and Mojave on an external SSD. Obviously for me, my external one with the Mojave is slower than my Sierra on the internal drive.

Both disks are the same, the original Hitachi 500GB hard disks that Apple uses, so no diff on data transfer/access time.

I have the same problem with a 2014 Mac mini. The loading screen appears but progresses very slow. When it reaches the full bar it just sits there in does nothing. Didn't have any problems with the initial boot after installation. This was with PB1 though.

Also thinking about going back to high sierra and just wait out a more stable release.

I know an old thread but it's affecting my 2012 Mac Mini Core i7 (unsure if fan not working is affecting installation for Catalina or downloading Recovery Mojave). I think there is a firmware update for the 2012 Mac Mini models.

Anyone have details to install this without needing to format and boot an installed 2.5mm SSD?
