Interesting fact about the Democratic convention: Vice President Joe Biden’s speech received the highest Nielsen televison ratings of all the keynote speakers at both conventions, ahead of Barack Obama and Mitt Romney, way ahead of Bill Clinton. This might bode well for viewership of the Veep debate.

    I'm interested in this debate.

Four years ago, Biden just had to step out of the way and let Palin piss all over herself.

Ryan, on the other hand, is a guy who can debate with the best of them, in my opinion.

I for one tuned into to watch Biden just to see if he would put his foot in his mouth in typical Joe fashion. I'm sure he got a few calls from big O this week telling him this is a big F'N deal don't screw it up.

Between Ryan's non-stop lying and Biden's chronic foot-in-mouth disease, this might be the most entertaining debate of them all.

Eh, I'm not impressed by the oratory skills of either. Ryan is going to run into trouble if Biden goes after his voting record, his fawning over Rand, or his complicated relationship with facts. On the other hand, Biden is more likely to fall on his own grenade, so this should be interesting in an "oh god, oh god we're all going to die" kind of way.

Thin connection. Good to see Newsbusters, Drudge and the Daily Caller getting all frothy about it though.

Biden, if he's on his game, has a natural warmth, an ability to seem like he's talking to you.

Ryan, OTOH, comes across as alternately arrogant and tedious. He's about as likable as the Borg.

If it gets down to a contest between Uncle Joe and The Powerpoint Kid, the Kid is gonna lose.

Well he certainly hasn't been good with the media so far. Lots of ahs, ums, uncomfortable shifts in the chair, and with Fox news (of all stations), he was downright hostile. He'll have to do better than that with Joe and in a national debate.

Speaking of which, I found it funny that Romney had no clue to Ryan's debating history. I know they are often campaigning in different spots, but at times it seems like these two aren't even TALKING to one another. How can he not know this? You would think with a major debate on the docket, the issue would have come up.

Looks like Al Gore can’t blame Altitude if Biden loses.
Anyways, I’m more excited for this debate than the Steelers & Titans game

    GO RYAN!!!

Not going to happen. Bottom of the ticket attacks the top of the opposing ticket.

Ryan will attack Obama, Biden will attack Romney, as per this clip:

For Dems and sympathisers, Ed Kilgore underscores the bottom line:

Remember Bush's 'Compassionate Conservatism'? Same people, same bill of goods.

But he usually doesn't make his gaffes during debates. He saves those for news shows and political rallies. So you will probably be disappointed.

I'm more interested in how many tons of BS are going to come out of Ryan's.

It will be interesting tonight, although I don't think it'll make a bit of difference.

Biden's reactions to Ryan are priceless. He's making Ryan look like a naive schoolboy without even saying anything.

    ... bunch of stuff.

    ----------

I like that first Biden explains what Ryan thinks Ryan said and then explains why both things were wrong.

    Priceless.

    EDIT:

I'm also glad that Biden pointed out that Iran lacks the missile capability to even launch a nuclear bomb. I wish Biden would bring up the Olympic Games program too.

That will be one of the quotable lines of the night: Biden saying that he's never met two guys more down on America than Romney and Ryan.

Oh, man, I'm enjoying this. Ryan's nasty side just came out when he said Biden's under duress trying to make up for lost ground.

Biden's making great points about people losing money by bringing the market into SS and Medicare.
