lots of very odd stuff...many safe mode starts-malewarbytes, ccleaner one or two vram starts....goofy stuff on beach ball- windows slow to open ..deleted cache got rid of extensions blah blah--does not like my hd discs I have plugged in via a 3.0 hub and other inconsistent operational anomalies...biggest deal is takes over two minutes to boot up from a complete shutdown...so is it operator problem? sierra? both or full moon?--Thank You

Likely faulty HDD from your description. Run SMART Utility and anything other than Passed would confirm HDD is dying: https://cloudfront.volitans-software.com/smartutility323.zip

If it is the HDD, you can either replace it with an SSD or install macOS to an external SSD and run it through that.

Well, if you're having all sorts of problems with Sierra… why not go back to El Capitan?
