Hi, does anyone else's new MacBook Pro make a sort of sticking sound when you've left the lid closed for a while and opened it? It seems to be the rubber seam as if I put a piece of paper between the display and the keyboard it is dead silent when opening.

I haven't had that sound. You may have something sticky on the rubber, or the surface it closes to. A very slightly damp microfiber cloth, and a light touch, might help clean it.

How long have you had yours for? Is it slowly going away?

Three weeks, actually I gave it a clean with some
Isopropyl alcohol and a microfibre cloth today and it's almost non existent. Before today it was the same from day one.

What area did you clean, if you don't mind me asking?

Having the same issue here as well. I keep my nTB obsessively clean as well, no idea what's making the sound. It seems to come from the right side half of the hinge/screen area for me

Yes. It sounds like opening a small can or so.

It's the rubber round the display that making the sound.
Nothing to worry about, it will tear of with time.

Or you can try clean it with a microfiber cutton.

I don't think isopropyl are so good for rubber so I can't recommend you using that. It can dry the rubber out.

I had a couple of replacements for screen issues - some make this noise, others didn't. My current one honest thankfully. It is just the rubber.

Wait, did I understand you correct that you did replace units because of this noise?

No, I had pink/yellow screen issues. Some of the replacements had the suction issues and others didn't.

Ok so it seems a fair amount have it then. Does anyone else have it/not have it?

I used a small cloth with saturated isopropyl on it left over from a screen protector and the only thing that came off was some black stuff on the cloth. Sound still remains.

It's just the seal creating a small vacuum it means that liquid and dust will struggle to get in as well so it's a good thing.

I'm not sure without seeing it in person of course but if there is nothing sticky going on then it seems a fair bet. The black that came off with the alcohol is just some of the rubber being taken off by the alcohol that should have cleaned any stickiness.

There's no sticky substance anywhere on it, but the rubber is quite hard, compared to how soft the rubber is on a friends 2012 air. However, I think all the new pros have this harder feeing rubber because all three of mine have. But yeah it sounds like suction.
